Why can’t Bossert set the agenda Homeland Security Council?
He can! He can with respect to Homeland Security.
But as pertains to the NSC, his agenda-setting role is now driven by McMaster.
The news is that McMaster is elevated but the President leaves Bossert in place. As Bossert has previously taken lead of the NSC meeting schedule and agenda, the President merely remarks that Bossert stays but his role in scheduling may now be adjusted by McMaster.
Each group that reports to the President, such as the NSC, and many others, will have one person authorized as the leader of the group, eventually as things shape up.
The President has not been in office three months yet and he is still forming all his teams and groups. In this ‘news’, he is more formally detailing the authority of McMaster.
Everything else is media drama.
Remember when CNN just last month reported that a long distance camera caught a ‘raging, screaming, battle’ taking place in the Oval Office with Bannon and the President? It was false.
This falls in the same category.
