also, Trump was the only one who could mobilize those who are so angered of the political correctness that the GOPe has appeased Democrats of: the fake campus rape “epidemic,” open borders, pajama boy-ism, Chicago crime instead of BLM, Muslim immigration, etc.

I voted for Cruz in the primary so I was in a unique situation during the general: I could be objective and dispassionate in my observations.

What I saw during the debates was not Donald Trump answering questions, it was Donald Trump making a pitch to the rust belt states.

I doubt if a pet rock could have done that.

Yeah, I can just picture all those thousands of eager people lining up to see Joe at one of the rallys across the fruited plain!

On second thought, no, I can’t. Joe, you’re an idiot.

With all the establishment forces both Democrat and Republican along with a hostile global media and oceans of money it was no cake walk.

Reminds me of how Wellington described Waterloo, "the nearest run thing you ever saw in your life."

Joe’s pet rock wouldn’t have made it out of the primary.

"Trump was the ONLY Republican candidate who could have beaten her."

Exactly!

“My pet rock could have gotten 45 percent against Hillary Clinton,” Mr. Scarborough said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “Maybe if my pet rock didn’t make any gaffes in the three debates, my pet rock could have beaten Hillary Clinton.”

Every major party candidate automatically gets about 40% of the popular vote. In modern times only Goldwater and McGovern did worse that that.

In straight two-way races, the loser usually gets 45% or more of the vote, so Joe's Pet Rock would have gotten that against Hillary Clinton.

But winning's another story. I don't see Jeb Bush winning the last election under any circumstances. Or Ted Cruz. Rubio or Kasich also probably would have found a way to lose.

It's likely that half of America would have voted for anyone or anything against Hillary.

Absolute nonsense. Hillary was the heir apparent, the first woman president, the designated winner, just awaiting her coronation.

It's a miracle that anyone was able to beat her. As weak as she was, she was a Democrat, so that's almost automatic given the demographic trends.

Only a maverick—an outsider—had any chance, and there was only one of those available. Trump—never having been a politician, and speaking totally bluntly and non-PC— also had baggage to overcome.

Nobody but Donald Trump beats Hillary on 11/8/2016.

Anyone else, like Jeb!, would have been virtually indistinguishable policy-wise, and the nation would have opted for the default liberal, the Democrat. The woman.

Only Trump could have made the inroads into the rust belt. What other Republican could have done that?

This is just an effort to minimize the unbelievable feat that Donald Trump accomplished. And despite what Donald Trump achieved, it was still a miracle. I'm convinced that it was God's will, and without Providence, it never would have happened...

You’re absolutely right about this. Go back and look at all of the states Trump won in 2016 that Romney lost in 2012. How many other GOP candidates realistically could have won ANY of those states — let alone ALL of them?

Joe's pet rock didn't make it out of the primary. Joe still thinks his pet rock is a viable sentient being.

The fact that Republican senators won in most of those swing states lends credence to the idea that another GOP candidate could have won against Hillary Clinton. I just don't think there were any other candidates with the notable exception of Chris Christie (who would have lost for other reasons) who would have taken the brash, in-your-face approach to the campaign that Trump used.

Also, remember that Trump's best attribute to many voters was that he was not a politician. Does anyone think other similar candidates like Ben Carson or Carly Fiorina could have won? Not likely.

I just spent an hour or so watching youtube videos of ABC's Election Night coverage and something occurred to me.If ILLary had been even partially black, had had any legitimate claim to Indian blood (hello,Princess Liawatha!) or had been openly lesbian (wink wink) she would have won.

For proof I give you Iowa.In 2008 the Rats took Iowa 54-44 with a victim as their nominee. In 2012 the Rats took Iowa 52-46,again with a victim as the nominee.Last year Trump took Iowa 51-42,the Rats having a nominee that most Americans would not classify as a victim.

For the next few elections at least the Rats are gonna have to nominate someone who the typical American might see as a victim.Princess Liawatha has come a long way with her ludicrous claims of Indian blood. The Rats have Governors,Senators, etc whose names end in "z".

Just two examples.

“I think Scarborough may be right about this”

You couldn’t be more wrong on this...none of the GOP candidates would have taken the Blue states like Trump did...none of them would have even campaigned in them like Trump did...Joe is simply taking shots at Trump...he’s a POS working with MS. POS at a POS cable news outlet.

Trump won the election, with a lot help from KellyAnne, Bannon, his son-in-law and the national GOP get out the vote. But it was Trump who filled the stadiums....it was Team Trump who made the airport hanger a campaign destination....I’m sure it was Trump who thought of the idea of pulling his jet up in front of the cameras. And it was Trump who used Twitter to stay front and center in the news cycle.

Joe, you phony POS. Weren't you one of the ones that had her elected before any votes were cast?

Were you lying then or are you lying now?

“In 2012 the Rats took Iowa 52-46,again with a victim as the nominee.”

Wrong...Obama lost support from 2008 to 2012 in EVERY one of the 11 swing states. The people in these states were already sick of Obama and his policies and wanted someone to talk about JOBS, JOBS, JOBS.
