On Tuesday, Joe Scarborough took The New York Times to task for downplaying revelations that former Obama administration National Security Adviser Susan Rice reportedly requested the unmasking of Trump campaign officials — and he may have a point.
In an April 3 piece titled, Trump Tries to Deflect Russia Scrutiny, Citing ‘Crooked Scheme’ by Obama, the paper of record only included the Rice news within the broader story of Trump deriding former president Obama, writing:

Pres Trump needs to announce ASAP, that since this is “all legal,” his administration will step up and do the legal thing to protect Americans' safety and security.
They'll be surveilling and unmasking any and all Democrats, on a continuing non-stop basis, particularly Democrats who have talked with any outside ambassadors, foreign offshore entities, and the like.
Plus, the Trump administration will ask for the “unmasking” of all those who are involved in such talks... because it is legal.
AND Trump will use Obama’s "legal" rules to distribute that information to every US intelligence agency. (HAT TIP BUBBA GUMP SHRIMP)
