State Rep. Geoff Diehl is setting up a federal fundraising account in his first official move toward challenging U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, offering an early gauge of how much anti-Warren money could flow into the race from around the country.
Diehl, a conservative Whitman Republican whos publicly weighed a Senate bid for months, plans to open a campaign account and file a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission tomorrow, he told the Herald.

What is a “conservative Whitman Republican” ?
He’s probably from Whitman, Mass. Where the chocolate chip cookie was invented.
The last well-known conservative from Whitman was Cardinal Francis Spellman.
The adjectives pan out as “oxymoronic”; which one works with the noun depends on whether one is referring to the GOPe or the GOP of Reagan.
It does tell me that he is likely to the right of Warren.
Let us pray that it doesn’t refer to Christie Todd Whitman.
He is from Whitman Mass. I wondered the same thing so I looked it up.
bump
Come on, it’s Massachusetts.
No more need be said.
This guy is as straight a shooter as you can be. He made it so the automatic gas price increase (tied to inflation barometer) tax got defeated..on a shoe string budget and going on Howie Carr’s show constantly .He is just like the State rep. out of Taunton Mass. Remember Massachusetts is filthy politically and they rape the treasury in broad daylight. The Governor baker is a spineless rino who does nothing to upset the apple cart....this guy is a real conservative and I think he’s pretty clean ...so if he gets the cash to get rid of the carpet bagger warren it will be a great addition for Trump and the cause to try and purge these *&%$#@&^$$#%^% thieves in D.C.
Lizzie’s got a glass jaw, which she constantly waves in everyone’s face.
Does he stand a better chance than Kurt Schilling?
THAT is what I was afraid of.
Conservative and Christie Todd Whitman don’t mesh.
Yes!
I believe he does. Shilling is not a good speaker, and no political experience, and some business dealings that will be used against him. Shilling's bright spot is his name recognition thru the Red Sox, and he's been in the media a bit (eg, substitutes often for Howie).
While Diehl does not have that name recognition, he does indeed have political savvy, experience, and enough name recognition at this point in the game for a big leap over the other possibilities.
He’ll lose. The only hope is that he gets his message across and takes Democrat assets away from other races. I’ll throw away $20 on his campaign. More if there’s ANY chance.
Yes he does stand a better chance than Schilling. Not taking anything away from Mr. Schilling but Diehll has a proven verifiable record of actions taken while holding office and he has struck a resounding cord with the closet conservatives in the liberal hellhole of Massachusetts (I was raised and educated there/I reside in Maine now.) The gas tax was going to be tied automatically to the “inflation rate” and Diehl who was outspent something like 35-1 got enough attention and votes to get it defeated....the bastards and bitches that comprise virtually all of the poklitical seats in Massachusetts are thieves and simply pillage the residents tax coiffures every chance they get. It is truly a disgusting example of a democratic tax em’ til’ it hurts state...it is brutal. He is a thorn in the sides of many and one of the few that actually SERVE the public rather than pillage for personal gain.
