Where does it say, anywhere, that CCI is cutting production of .22 rimfire? It would be insane for them to do so, as other manufactures have ramped up production, and are eager to grab market share.
The logical thing for CCI to do is to keep on manufacturing all the .22 rimfire that they can, in order to meet demand. There is still lots of demand out there, and as you know, CCI is still not able to keep product on the shelves.
Cutting back production when you cannot meet current demand, at the price you are asking, would be truly insane.
I’m not going to buy at the prices they still want, nor will a lot of people. That’s why my Walmart is always out of stock on it because the mfrs know they can get premium prices elsewhere, thus my Walmart gets a token shipment at good prices that always, ALWAYS is snapped up.
