Israel and several EU nations have pledged to move forward with a Mediterranean gas project, aiming to pump natural gas from Israel to Europe through the longest undersea pipeline ever built.

Creating a target?
This is a huge market for the US and would break Russia’s hold on Europe.
And when the leftist EU governments (yes, tautology, I know) decide to boycott Israel because of “settlements” what happens then?
I think Israel will have a very nice leverage... but do these fools (EU politicians) never think at all?
And that gas line agreement Turkey signed with Russia....
Oh never mind
Now maybe the West can stop tearing Syria.. and Ukraine... apart over pipelines
We want Russia isolated, cut off and sanctioned because that is how you deal with a nuclear power - call them bad names and demoniznec them to your people, too
The EU would prefer to do business with Israel and maybe even stop boycotting their products? Especially as they bevime muslimized by choice..
Meanwhile Russia may have to look to Asia not Europe to develop a heartland empire - what could go,wrong in all of this grand scheme
Which is why Russia is working with China.
I just don’t think this latest move to cut off Russia from Europe is going to work out the way they think it’s going to work out
And as much as the EU wants to speak for all of Europe it doesn’t
It won’t ‘cut off’ Russian gas imports, just create a new source. IIRC, Russia currently supplies around 90% of Europe’s natural gas. Europe needs another source for obvious reasons. A new supply will lessen dependency and reduce Russian supplier revenues.
It’s more like 30% than 90%
Geography is destiny and whether the west likes it or not, Russia is attached to Europe and the U.S. is not
But they’re also attached to China
And if you look at the grand scheme for the New Silk Road project, and the strategic implications for Russia and China to converge their interests in the geographic pivot of the world, here is a vast scenario for Europe to be scrambling for a piece of that action
More than one person has observed that this could actually be the “hook” to be put in the “jaws” on Gog of Magog in Ezekiel 38.
The EU is just looking for more options. The reality is that they need to buy gas from everyone. They can play for the lowest price if they have more options. Russia will still sell them gas. Just not as much, and the Russians will not have such a strong hand.
Russia has a world of resources and China has the people. In the end, China will control Russia. It may take a century but its inevitable that Russia will start to devolve and China will gradually take over Russia. Russia’s only chance is to play off India which also needs resources.
Putin’s population is small and shrinking. And both China and India are large and growing. At sometime one or both of them will move north. Russia will not be able to do anything about it. I figure China will control Eastern Russia in 50 years.
Terrific, now Israel can atone for their sins against the noble Palestinians by giving EU Globalist Elites cheap gas to gouge their citizens for.
Poor Turkey, no pipeline for you, but the Greeks can transit fee their way out of "austerity".
Yeah this will work out real good, and definitely not piss off the Saudis, and Qataris.
This explains why Russia is hostile to the West/Europe.
Russia is in bind. The way out? Conquer Europe and thus increase its population problem against China.
That is really the only hope they have in the long run of maintaining territory.
Russia is having a hard time conquering anything and holding it. The Soviet Union fell apart because Russia was spread too thin. There are simply too few of them. They are learning to project their influence with fewer personnel. But there are limits. Georgia and the Ukraine are not Western Europe. Russia is trying to take back everything that NATO won’t defend. They are carefully testing NATOs resolve to see where they will act, and where they won’t. Their main goal is to keep strategic connections to trade routes through ports. Watch the Baltics.

Will there be any protesters for this pipeline?
Baltic ports were critical to these countries for catching up with the rest of Europe economically after Soviet collapse. Soviets used them to trade most of their export/import and Russia continued to do so in 1990s.
The problem it’s changing big time with Russia developing own ports in Northwest and there goes Baltic transit along with their economies.
If you’d look carefully they aren’t doing well over last decade and it tends to get worse.
It is not that bad for Poland but the similar risks are there.
Betting on the West at the expense of Russia is a gamble at that part of the World and I am yet to see one who hit a jackpot.
Finland I believe has worked out the best balanced model over century being exactly 50/50 on Russia/Europe thing most of the time.
