A deeply divided Senate panel favorably recommended Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch on Monday, sending the nomination to the full Senate for what is expected to be a partisan showdown — and eventual confirmation.
The 11-9 committee vote for President Donald Trump's nominee, strictly along party lines, came shortly after Democrats secured enough votes to block the nomination in the full Senate. But that Democratic success was virtually certain to be a short-lived political victory, as Republicans vowed to change Senate rules to put Gorsuch on the court and score a much-needed win for their party.

Now McConnell needs to force these nominations through, one way or another.
Since the ‘rats are saying they have enough votes to filibuster it all comes down to McConnell pushing through the “nuclear option”.... time to go nuclear on the dirty lying ‘rats!
I believe he intends to use the so-called nuclear option if the Dems filibuster the nomination, and as Reid promised he would set in motion if the Dems had won the Senate and Clinton the White House.

I have also seen it called ‘the constitutional option’ which I prefer. The constitution only requires a majority vote.
Republicans have both houses and the Presidency and yet the demoncraps act like the majority who put the republicans in power don't exits and republicans act as thought they are not the majority.
As I've said many times, it would be refreshing to see a boat load of high ranking demoncrap politicians and bureacrats, e.g., Rice, Holder, Clintons, Obama to name a few ..... in jail!! In any other world where the Constitution and law are enforced - they would be.

If Garland is the Holy Grail of Supreme Court justices, why the hell did Bonzo waste two nominations on those two ditzy clowns, Sotomayor and Kagen? The RATS had two opportunities to put Garland on the court. THEY blew it. Screw them.
I agree, and I think these appointments generally should only be blocked - by either party - in truly extreme cases of malfeasance or suspected criminality, not just “I don’t like this guy’s views on the Constitution.”
Fantastic move by the dems, break the seal on the nuclear option now and we have essentially ended the debate on the next nomination, when Ginsburg croaks. A two-fer. I love it.

If the Democrats do this now it will free up easier confirmation for replacements for other justices. Let them do it...they certainly would not hesitate to do it to us - they already did after calling it “un-American”.

What needs SIXTY VOTES is a motion to stop debate, which can continue until a) there are sixty votes to stop it, or, b) the anti-faction becomes exhausted and cannot hold the floor.
NO FILIBUSTER HAS EVER GONE ON FOREVER.
What's new is that, since the 1970s, the Senate (by majority consent) will accept a "declaration of a filibuster" and move on to other business, in effect tabling the business before the Senate (a nomination, in this case) and leaving it undone as long as the "declarers" remain unchanged. This grants the minority a veto which requires zero effort to excercise. This is not a tradition, it has no historical validity, and...
This is stupid and can be changed with no change in the underlying rule that a supermajority is required to end debate.
All that the majority need do is require the minority to hold the floor until they cannot. The longest filibuster in history was 57 days long, in 1957.
If the Democrats stop the business of the Senate for 57 days over this matter, it will cost them big time in 2018, and I'm sure they know it.
It is completely unnecessary to exercise the so-called "nuclear option". All the Majority Leader needs to do is to open debate on the nomination, then sit back, and wait. Move cloture every day.

“Filibuster” is anti-democratic delay tactic favored by US republicans in even numbered years, and by US democrat party at all other times.
Calling a halt to senators gassing and taking a majority vote is called the “nuclear option” by our `rat news propagandists when GOP invertebrates wet themselves contemplating its use.
It is the “constitutional option” according to the same shills when Democrats use it without hesitation to get what they want, with the help of a few GOP turncoats.
