Good evening, LFR....thanks for adding another story to Patton’s “life”. Very interesting.

I guess the good part is that I did put the little dish with his “special” mix away from the table, so maybe he won’t put two and two together. And his back is looking better. Poor thing, though, is itchy where they had to shave him. And his sister hisses at him. I guess the bare patch freaks her out. She can’t stand change! LOL!

You had 83 today? That’s awesome....for you! I’m kind of enjoying he cool down that we’ve had. Perspective. :) I hope your hubby’s aunt is holding her own. She’s a tough lady!

Good evening, Kathy and Star!

***HUGS***

Thanks very much – coming aboard! Rendering Hand Salutes to our National Colors and to the Officer of the Deck!

And thanks very much for tonight’s Hall of Heroes thread! Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. USA is most worthy of induction into our Hall of Heroes!

That should help. As long as he doesn’t make any connections to it being food you eat, too, he might not turn into a major beggar.
Hubby’s been bad about slipping little bits to the cats while he’s eating and they constantly beg him now. I never give them people food so they leave me alone.
But they pester me the rest of the time for attention. LOL

I was stunned when I saw the thermometer this afternoon because it didn’t feel that hot. Felt GOOD! We’ll back off into 70s and 60s after the rain comes through tonight and tomorrow and that’s comfy enough.

Glad it cooled down where you are. It got too hot waaaaay too early.

Clara’s hangin’ in there. They had her out of bed today but she’s been feeling puny enough she’s been in bed a lot more often lately. She’s wasn’t real chipper today but at least she was up.

How’s your MIL doing these days? Finally feeling back to normal after her surgery?

Good evening, radu...((HUGS))...how did your day go?

Any progress on the well house? Did you take anyone out to walk on a leash today?

I’ve been fighting signs across the street most of the day. Mom is really upset about the personal signs with her name on them. I have told her at least 50 times that the neighbor has NO signs, but she just keeps talking. Thank goodness he only comes over at Christmas. She wants to let him know how upset she is with him and how inappropriate his signs are. Just a bit ago she has decided that he has bugged her phone.

I was able to go over her ballot with her last night and get a signature...”you have to fit your whole name between my fingers”, so she voted. I was able to pick it up as a “personal representative”. This morning I returned it to the library. Later I heard her tell my sister that she didn’t know if she would be able to vote or not. *sigh* She was able to take enough steps to get in her wheelchair, so that is an improvement of sorts.

The following poetry by GP demonstrates his understanding of history and the old saying: "If you don't learn from it, you are doomed to repeat it".

From George Patton circa 1917 in France, with some bolding by moi.

THE PAST IS PROLOGUE!

Thanks for asking...she’s doing pretty good. I think her incision is finally healing and if her legs would, she’d be happy. They don’t hurt, but they “weep” and it’s very annoying for her.

Allergies can make a person feel as sick as a cold can. I’m sure Clara is uncomfortable from the symptoms. I came back from Houston with allergies. Could have been pollen. There were a lot of bluebonnets along the way and they put off TONS of the stuff! Beautiful, but *aaaah-CHOO!”

Hey there, Kathy.

She’s still seeing those signs today, huh? It’s a good thing she isn’t very mobile or she’d probably go to the neighbor’s door to give him a piece of her mind. oops!

Good that she was able to take a few steps. That’ll help when you take her to the doctor.

It was a good enough day here. Nice and warm and I should have taken Buckwheat out for a bit. But it didn’t happen. Spent a lot of the afternoon visiting Aunt Clara instead.

No progress on the well house yet. Guess I’m going to have to start bugging Hubby to get on it. He’d rather work on cars. At least he was able to get the downed cedars dealt with. Now to hope for no more storms knocking trees over again.

Glad to hear things are looking up for her. Now if the “weeping” would stop, it sounds like things would be even better. Easy to understand how that would be annoying.

Clara doesn’t have too much trouble with allergies but wind blowing in her ears gives her earaches. She’s had trouble with that for a few years now. If the wind had been down today, we’d have sat outside because she enjoys it so much.

I know all too well how crappy allergies make one feel. It’s a way of life. LOL! Hubby didn’t help matters today by mowing a little. I’ve been sneezing and blowing my nose all evening.

Sounds like bluebonnets wreaked a little havoc on your sinuses. :-(

Aww...I hope next time you go it’s not windy so she can go out and get some fresh air! I’ll bet it boosts her mood a bunch to see the sun and to breathe “real” air for a change!

If these darn storm systems would stop coming through one after another, we’d have nice days so she could go out. She likes it when I get her out because we sit by the front door where she watch traffic go by. They have nice little setups on either side with chairs and a table for people to sit and relax. If the CNAs take her outside, it’s to the courtyard. It’s nice but it’s enclosed so she can’t see the “outside” world. We’ll see what this week brings and maybe we’ll get to sit outside a little.

With us both being distracted right now, it’s a wonder someone else didn’t slip in and snag it. LOL

A family friend of ours was a young German POW, maybe 17, at war’s end. Patton borrowed Walter from the POW camp and had him do odd jobs for him. One included polishing his riding boots- Patton liked to take horseback rides most mornings. Walter shined the boots to a gleam and set them beside Patton’s door. A minute later the boots came flying back at Walter with Patton yelling “Dirty!!”- Walter had missed some mud caught in the crease between the heel and sole of the boots.

Late in his life Walter told us another story of his time as a POW- one Saturday night a couple of guards came to get him. They gave him some clean clothes, including a GI overcoat, and smuggled him out of the camp. They took him into town and to a dance, where they waited patiently as Walter was allowed to enjoy an evening dancing with the local fräuleins. After which they took him back to camp. Walter marveled at what the guards had done, and after all the years that had passed still couldn’t explain why they had done it.

This greatly amused my father, a career Army officer, to whom it was obvious that Patton himself had ordered the night on the town- the guards would have risked getting shot pulling that stunt on their own. Patton of course had never let on that he had done it- he had to maintain that gruff exterior.

Well, it certainly had ME distracted! LOL! Glad ya got it.

Guess I’d better get some sleep. Still having to make up for getting up TOO early on two days this week. It’s like being at work again! LOL!

See ya tomorrow night!

I barely noticed. Waiting to see the new eaglet had my attention.

I do hope you checked OKC before heading out. Primo is out of the box, sitting on the ledge. Seems quite proud of the accomplishment. LOL

Sleep well.

I had to deliver my Mom’s ballot to the library polling place and some of the streets were actually DRY! Dry from side to side!!

The next three days are supposed to be rain, but nights above freezing....we need ALL nights above freezing.

The few streets I could see on the cams looked in darn good shape. Glad the temps are supposed to stay above freezing for a little while at least since you’re going to get rain. It would be nice if Spring would go ahead and move in NOW.

There’s a large swath of rain about to start moving over us now. Sure wish it would hurry so maybe the aches and pains would calm down. Hubby and I have been groaning all night, feeling the system getting closer. I had to break out the heating pad to put behind me on the chair and it’s helping a little.
Dang, it sucks getting old. LOL
