Bozell: Failure to Repeal Obamacare 'Absolute Suicide for the Republican Party'
CNS News ^ | march 31, 2017 | Susan Jones

Posted on 04/01/2017 6:11:27 AM PDT by KyCats

"It is absolute suicide for the Republican Party to follow the course that they're embarking on right now," L. Brent Bozell III, the chairman of For America, told a conference call.

"All the studies show that premiums are going to go up. The Republican Party will own health care -- Paul Ryan and the Republican leadership in the Senate will own Obamacare, and national health care after this -- if they go down this road.”

Bozell said Republicans “could well lose the House and Senate in 2018” if they don’t rethink what they’re doing. “It will be a rout against Republicans.”

“Trump is siding 100% with Ryan”

“Whoever Trump is listening to right now needs to be neutralized”

“Trump is not up for re-election in 2018”

Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump...

I’ve got news for you. Until Congress sends a bill to his desk, there is nothing that Trump can do about it.

So stop whining. If the Freedom Caucus has the balls to pass a clean repeal, nobody is stopping them.

Obamacare won’t be repealed, because it can’t be repealed - or, more exactly, it can’t be repealed without ushering in huge Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate.

Members of Congress don’t know much, but they can count votes like a pimp in a whorehouse can count money.

Yes, the voters “hate Obamacare and want it repealed”. That is absolutely true.

It’s also true that they want the ability to buy insurance for pre-existing conditions, want insurance companies to be forbidden to cancel policies for non-payment, want zero payment at the point of service, want their adult children who are smoking dope in a dive in Oakland to stay covered, want their States to expand Medicaid without taxes going up, and so on.

In other words, the only two things they hate about Obamacare are paying for it, and the name.

Republicans in Congress understand this perfectly well, which is why there’s no plan.

And, not coincidentally, Obamacare (and Romneycare) were the culmination of fifty years of “reform”, all of which had the purpose of destroying the private sector or making it impossible for the private sector to function, except for boob jobs and a few other things. And, by 2009, the mission was largely accomplished.

Obamacare was merely a temporary mop-up operation, until full nationalization was possible.

And now, it is.

Like Nixon to China, Trump will propose single payer within the year. It’s really the only way out at this point.

And before you accuse me of favoring it, realize that it will destroy a lifetime of work for me. I don’t like it - I hate it.

But it’s coming, because it’s what the voters, bless their pointy little heads, want.

How is Trump, from another branch of government, supposed to do that, then? He can't, but he sees a long-term goal Ryancare can bring that 0care can't.

Let him have the Ryancare crap sandwich and let's see how he leverages it.

Bozell is 100% correct here.

Trump is doing in both the House GOP majority and his presidency with his very first involvement in legislation.

This falls on both him and whichever of his advisers he is listening to on it.

Sorry, Bozell is 100% wrong here.

Did we give the kenyan a pass for the VA system fiasco because he didn’t “create” it? No.

The GOP has all 3 branches and owns health care now. Lock, stock and barrel. Voters are never going to give the GOP a pass while the Dems/MSM hysterically scream “GOP must fix it”.

Right.

The 29 to 30 members of HFC can pass legislation all by themselves.

Only takes 29-30 congressman to pass a law.

Your comments are becoming more ridiculous by the day.

The HFC voted for Ryan to represent them on this.

Trump is working with the best being offered by Ryan.

Trump doesn’t get to vote on legislation.

It’s incumbent on the freedom caucus to do their jobs, work with others and send a bill to Trump’s desk. Whining and complaining won’t help. Trashing Trump certainly won’t help.

Exactly. If it takes 3 steps so be it. We have 1/3 of America uninsurable due to obesity. Then we have the illegal Mexicans who are even more obese then our population. Some guaranteed issue and/or pooling of risk must be done or we’ll have more uninsured’s then ever.

"Guaranteed issue" = guaranteed unaffordable.

The failure lay not in the CONCEPT of repeal.

It was in tying repeal to a “replacement” which was essentially a rewrite of the existing Obamacare. No government-mandated plan that applies to all residents (apparently it is no longer necessary to be a CITIZEN to enjoy the benefits) of the United States, to the near-exclusion of alternatives, should have been included. Separate issue, which should be dealt with on the basis of actual NECESSITY.

Pre-existing conditions? Separate risk pool, which is subject to supplementary revenue sources, and from which the participant may leave after a certain length of time, to return to common coverage in the general pool.

TORT REFORM! Much of the costs of medical services are tied up in not the actual award of compensation for malpractice, but in the THREAT brought by cases which are settled out of court, or dismissed only after much has already been expended on litigation. Loser pays.

Opening up competition between those entities who actually pay for the medical services, and making public offerings as to the range of payment services provided. Insurance companies operating outside state boundaries on a reciprocal basis, and the public is given opportunity to pick and choose the level of insurable risks they are willing to settle for under Major Medical, and a VAST expansion of Medical Savings Accounts, set up with a tax advantage for all participants, up to and including fully self-insuring.

Personal health is not a right, it is a personal accountability and DUTY of every capable person, and those for whom the capable person takes primary responsibility.

The GOP has all 3 branches

How do you figure the GOP has the judicial branch?

I can’t imagine Ivanka still siding with the left as they take action upon action to destroy her business.

Yep.

HFC pulled a “go along to get along” and supported the GOP establishment candidate, Paul Ryan. But it’s absurd to blame the HFC for his speakership. At worst, HFC simply failed to save the rest of the GOP from it’s own self-defeating instincts, a service conservatives are usually relied upon to perform and in fact do perform (like with AHA).

Go along to get along is always a mistake. Hopefully conservatives in Congress won’t forget hat lesson again.

Repeal the Individual Mandate.

11 of 12 mandates remain for the traitors.

Then let Obamacare 2.0 compete freely.
