McCaskill backs filibuster of Gorsuch, makes nuclear option likely
Washington Times ^ | 3/31/17 | Stephen Dinan

Sen. Claire McCaskill announced Friday that she will join Democrats’ attempted filibuster of Judge Neil Gorsuch, making it almost certain that Republicans will have to trigger the “nuclear option” to confirm President Trump’s first Supreme Court nominee.

The Missouri Democrat said she is aware that her decision makes the nuclear option likely, and it could lead to more extreme judges being named to the high court, but she said she had too many questions about Judge Gorsuch’s “rigid ideology that always puts the little guy under the boot of corporations.”

McCaskill is from a red state so she has to make this "decision" as tough. Another phony Democrat. Please, Missouri don't reelect this woman to represent your values again, even she decides to rerun.

Talk, talk, talk....

Libs don’t have the guts to risk the Reid Rule on this nomination.

It would leave them defenseless in the next fight sure to come later this year.

(Kennedy and/or Ginsburg)

I’m looking forward to the appointment of more “extreme” conservative justices. Especially replacing as many of the “extreme” liberal justices as possible. That will be fun to watch.

She had the good luck to run against that complete idiot, Todd Akin, back four years ago. She won’t be so lucky the next time and she’s in a state that voted for Trump 57-37.

“Gorsuch’s ‘rigid ideology that always puts the little guy under the boot of corporations.’”

Marxist language. Surely Missouri can do better than this next year.

I second that.

Yes, she caught a lucky break by getting clown Akin as an opponent - the guy who thought voters should hear his bizarre musings on pregnancy and “legitimate rape”.

She actually ran ads boosting his candidacy. First time I saw one, I thought the TV station had made an error. But the same pro-Akin ad kept showing. They only clue was at the very end it had Claire’s picture and the “I’m Claire McCaskill and I paid for this ad”.

The Constitution only requires a majority vote to confirm Presidential nominees. The use of cloture to block Presidential appointments by the minority is of recent origin.

Schumer already vowed to filibuster him. It only takes one senator to filibuster. So why is this news?

McCaskill is toast either way in 2018, and she knows it. She’s not going to get another Todd Akin to bail her out.

Bryer
Ginsberg
Kennedy

These three may well happen during the next couple of years.

I guess Claire has decided she’s done being a senator. Might as well go out swinging.

She will face no opposition in the primary. In the Republican primary the RINO’s will run a candidate The Conservatives will run one. A third one who has money backing from Democrats but poor chance in the General election. Democrats will cross over in the primary to vote for 1 or 3 and the Conservitive is out. If ether McCaskll or the RINO wins the Uniparty is happy.
