Died in the summer.
I’ve read that one of the surest ways to get yourself poisoned or blowed up is to try some of that stuff...
Blowed up!
Blowed up real good!
The Anarchist’s Cookbook was used by communist terrorists, possibly including the Weathermen (Weather Underground Organization) of Bill Ayers, Ted Gold, Bernadine Dohrn, and others of the late 60’s early 70’s groups.
It was circulated in through their underground network of safehouses and support groups (many of which were exposed in The Pink Sheet on the Left, #279, about 1979, long before the FBI put out a similar report and map).
Marxist and black extremist Marxists/criminals raided government Armories, ROTC buildings, hardware stores and mining sites to get dynamite, black powder, and electrical wiring for their bombs.
Powell was a traitor to America so don’t let any glowing report/fake news about him fool you as to who he was.
My wife bought me my copy in 1982. Good book. Retitled it could say “A defense manual for the common man in a complex system”.
He should have died decades earlier from a government agent sent to eliminate one of the worst domestic threats had produced at the time. While I’ve heard apocryphal tales of lots of wanna-bes supposedly blowing themselves up trying to follow this ‘cookbook’, there is no denying that there were plenty of successes with it as well.
Every chapter is prefaced with a warning not to do or make the following or you will kill yourself. Pretty straight forward stuff. The chapters on what to do when arrested or before a judge are fantastic for developing an understanding of the system.
Nothing is in that book that isn’t taught in military training and covert operations. It is more a problem when idiots follow it. The chemistry is obsolete as well as the technology. The tactical and information is still valid today.
pong
Or maybe I was doing it wrong.
The book has been replaced by web based stuff that would be lauded as a great and patriotic service to us struggling for freedom if we had seen Hillary and maybe one or two more folks in the White House with totalitarian agendas like those in the current Dem party.
Law and Order freepers who nod knowingly about how bad and evil this guy’s info was are like naive children who simply cannot imagine the government of the USA becoming totalitarian, oppressive, and a petri dish for revolution.
And no, there is no bananadine, which was supposedly an extract from the peel. That rumor was started by Country Joe and the Fish, whom I am convinced were mocking the credulity of the flower children and hyping their band.
Powell gave a recipe for making an extract from the bananas using about 20 pounds of banana peel(!). I don’t know of anyone who ever did this, though I do know of many kids who dried the peels and tried to smoke them. I personally never did.
I have a bootleg copy. Why pay for something you can steal? //sarc
For younger Freepers—that is the actor William Powell and Myrna Loy of old time Hollywood fame in the “Thin Man” movies......
The U.S. Army Improvised Munitions Handbook is $11.52 from Amazon (or available as a download from the US Gov’t for free).
BFL
Heheheh, Abbie Hoffman’s “Steal This Book” comes to mind.
