Texas Governor, Greg Abbott just called into the Steve Malzberg show to discuss sanctuary cities plaguing certain counties in his great state. He said he would sign legislation that could put Sheriffs of sanctuary cities in jail.
Here we go, folks! Dont mess with Texas!
Steve Malzberg: I know you brought up the possibility of jailing such Sheriffs recently.
Greg Abbott: We have. Its a two-step process. One, as Governor I could unilaterally use my office to take funds away from Travis County that had been previously granted to them under Governors grants for criminal justice reasons and we have defunded them to the tune of $1.5 million.
In addition to that, we have been pushing a piece of legislation in Texas that is going to pass that I will be signing into law that imposes even sterner penalties on counties. Uh it will include things such as further defunding them and it could impose jail time for the Sheriffs to enforce the laws.
Oddly enough these Sheriffs could wind up behind the very bars they are releasing these very criminals from.
Praise kek.
Indeed. Kek shall exact terrible vengeance upon the evils of the land, and the God-Emperor Trump shall be his vessel.
Sessions is a weak kneed yellow bellied limp wrist loser. He hasnt done a single thing as AG. Not one.
I've noticed the same.
I'll withhold judgment. I'm hoping he's task organizing and investigating and all that other stuff.
I'm thinking Grand Inquisitor Sessions is making a list and checking it twice.
It's only been a few weeks.
I think he's under more pressure from the powers that be than Abbott. In addition, the Uniparty has just about cut his nuts by hammering him on issue after issue...
Sheriffs are County and thus are the highest elected official in the County.
What??? Read the Texas Constitution. The County Sheriff is the highest elected official in the County. They are not obligated to follow any "direction" provided by political leaders. They are obligated to enforce the laws. That is it.
Now yes Session did do one thing...... He gave up before the fight started
A death sentence for sure.
And not a pleasant one.
LOVE IT!
I realize that . . . both Travis County and Austin City are BOTH a Sanctuary County and Sanctuary City.
No need to split hairs, no need for condescension . . . both entities in this case are guilty of violating federal immigration laws.
And, as I said, if the sheriff violates a law they are required to obey, they should also go to jail. But when a sheriff is following orders from a law passed by local politicians, the politicians should go to jail. Excusively or in addition to, either way.
Your list probably isn't as out of date as you think. I'll freepmail you my list.
Tank you sir.
Was not trying to do either. Since you do not have an indication on your homepage of what your home State is I was not sure if your were familiar with Texas Constitution. That is all I was trying to convey FRiend and I agree with you 100%.
Our Governor is going to teach this Sheriff a lesson where Governor Good Hair Perry would have not.
I am so glad President Trump swooped Perry ( I despise him, met him and stomped South Texas sugar sand with him) up and got him out of Texas.
The sides in the upcoming civil war are no longer defined by geography, such as North and South, but by Right (conservative) and left (wrong.)
The sheriff of Travis County might as well be a Marxistchusetts liberal.
I am a Texan but currently living out of state due to employment. :( Most of my family still lives in TX so I visit as often as I can. :)
better get back soon. #TEXIT is coming and the borders will be shut down
I know~! And I need to bring my husband and two kids with me before y’all close the doors~! Hopefully y’all will let me/us them in with my papers (birth certificate). :)
But, but there is no difference in the GOP and the Rats.
These criminal sanctuary city sheriffs are “law enforcement” officers??????
What laws are they enforcing? Texas or Mexico’s? As a matter of fact they actually are worse than criminals since the “aid and abet” other criminals.
Put them in jail where they belong.
