And as I pointed out to LS on another thread (well actually it was FreeReign who pointed it out) the examination of Ryancare and comparing it to ACA was only given to the FC two weeks prior to the planned vote and signing.

So this is why, at least IMO, it’s reasonable that the FC may have come back with more and more demands after the first or second rounds of negotiations. Because the ACA (Obamacare) had 20,000+ pages to go through! Do you really think you could effectively review 20,000 pages and be prepared for only ONE (of a very few too) meetings about it with those you are trying to negotiate about it with? Don’t you think it’s possible that after that first meeting you may find some MORE things wrong with it that should be removed?

Remember they only had two weeks to look at the replacement because Ryan kept it secret longer than that. And they only had a few meetings with Trump and Ryan both present.

So there’s nothing more nefarious than that behind this “moving the goalposts” charge than that.

And as I also have since pointed out, no one (the FC sadly included apparently) was even taking about restoring, at least in some substantive way, the ban on preexisting conditions. That’s Obamacare and if it’s “moving the goalposts” to keep demanding that then thank God for those moving goalposts.

Well not really since that’s the law of the land now. But at least the FC preserved the Republican Party from owning Obamacare. Because if the ban on preexisting conditions isn’t restored in some way then it’s still Obamacare no matter who’s name is on it.

Is there room for compromise sure but the total ban as it stands now cannot remain. It’s a complete impediment to the free market in the industry, and thus socialism by definition.

No, not nefarious at all. They had 8 years to help develop this.

The problem with this line of thinking is . . . why did they only have two weeks? They have had eight years to work with Ryan and to shape a bill. Did they really think a “plain” repeal was gonna fly after so many were hooked on some government goodies?

No, you keep letting the HFC off way too easy. They all voted for Ryan. They didn’t run a single candidate against Ryan last time. Today they all said Ryan should still be Speaker.

Now, you can make excuses for them all day long, but it seems to me they want to be “principled” yet never actually have to fight Ryan.
