Over eating is a dangerous addiction.

The Congress could make buprenorphine/naloxone prescription refills unlimited.

Alternately, federal law could be changed so any doctor or physician assistant can renew buprenorphine-naloxone prescriptions.

The combination works well for many people and needs to be readily available.

I’m surprised there’s enough meat on that bone that Trump just tossed to Christie.

I hope they’re successful. We can’t MAGA with a huge population of people strung out on drugs.

“Ending opioid addiction”

It’s been around since Adam & Eve.

Apples are found in orchards.

The Biblical “apple” of the Garden of Eden is of the opium poppy.

Hint to Christi: Look for secret compartments under the floorboards in the rooms Malia and Sasha slept in. Oh, check the Oval office too.

If they are serious, I would recommend adding President Duterte t to the panel.

Recreational drugs punish their users.

I don’t think the government needs to add to the punishment for simple usage that is not a danger to others.

The war on drugs needs to go the way of alcohol prohibition.

People should be able to sell/buy the less dangerous forms for each brain chemical system, say:
1. a cocaine/cola beverage for the dopamine system
2. variably colored codeine beverages for the opioid receptor system(green: non-lethal for novices, yellow: likely to harm novices, red: sure to kill novices)

Rehab except for alcohol is normally a failure.

Addiction to recreational drugs is generally for a lifetime.

Because the last zillion presidential commissions on drugs were so successful?

I saw that the same pharmaceuticals that lobbied against medical marijuana have come out with their own more expensive synthetic version of it. I’m sure it is much safer than a plant.

Maybe this problem can be addressed differently than in the past. Get rid of criminalization and focus on treatment.

There's too many jail cells right now filled with people serving mandatory minimums for drug offenses, and the result is that violent criminals being released back into the streets instead.

I'll be very interested to see the approach here, because if it's just the predictable authoritarian move towards more draconian prohibition laws and enforcement, it will have the same impotent results as have been seen over the last century or more.

Additionally, nobody who is suffering from chronic pain should have to have a sh!t quality of life just because someone else is irresponsible and stupid...

On a more serious note, I find it hard to believe that Christie was offered other positions in the Trump administration, as he has claimed, because he was waiting for a nothing burger like this - a powerless position under the son of someone he had locked up. He must really want out of New Jersey and apparently private industry isn’t interested.

Burn every GD opium field in Afghanistan for starters, and as a charitable act to show Mexico we really do care about the poor Mexicans we’re sending back and going to keep from coming by helping to save them from the animals that run Mexican drug cartels.

“In a related statement, Gov. Christie said, ‘Drug dealers carrying weapons of war are the scourge of our cities. I will be working with ATF to pull the federal 4473 forms of all owners of these assault weapons, and we will be investigating them all to see if they are drug dealers.’”

~didn’t really say that, but possible, I think... Crispy Creme is an anti-self-defense governor of an anti-gun state...

If our 'government' was really serious about drug abuse they would have taken out the poppy fields in the 'Stan.

But they aren't, and they didn't.

Chris Christie would have been a decent president before Bridgegate. He would have won NJ, NY, CT. Trump should have won NJ. Trump should campaign for the NJ GOP. Campaign in the red areas.

Bill Bennett told us we’d be Drug Free by the Year 2000. Maybe he was using a different calendar.
