Rep. Dave Brat is my rep. Yesterday, he posted an article to his constituents on his Facebook page. There are a lot of rumors & "who shot John" accusations flying around, but here it is straight from a Freedom Caucus & Conservative mouth as to what happened. There are a lot of terrific comments in this article and it's well worth reading. Personally, Dave Brat speaks for me ...... it was a great day when Eric Cantor was deposed from his self-assumed throne & I am grateful every day for Dave Brat. So far he has acted in the best interests of those who have elected him instead of playing politics & he communicates well as to why he believes what he does and votes the way he does. He is also the only House member with a PhD in Economics so he has a good idea how "things" like market forces and government mandated programs work. The entire article is below.
Are you surprised?
And the rats will learn their lesson when they bite Trump’s hand and find themselves in a rat trap and that Trump has taken their cheese.
“Its is health insurance with a huge deductible and high monthly payments. Health care is what you get a clinic or hospital.”
So it really “insures” nothing! The high premiums are a disgrace, but the deductibles really make these policies unworkable. The problem is going to be the people who, through the law, get “free” or nearly free healthcare. They will be brought forward by the RATS as proof positive that the Republicans are trying to ‘kill off’ the indigent.
no mandates, state or federal
no penalties, state or federal
It’s not my fault that some providers are crazed with greed.
If steps are necessary, fine, but make them quick steps. I dont really care how or what it takes to get there and/or what kind of political maneuvering will be necessary.
My concern is that so few understand the goal itself - that healthcare must be in the market economy free of government interference. If you dont have the right goal, youll never reach it.
...And the overall goal is to restore our Free Constitutional Republic.
I question the intelligence and/or the sanity of anyone who expects an elected official to support a bill that has this kind of public support.
If Trump is sincere in his criticism of the Freedom Caucus, then what he’s saying is that he expected them to be “political suicide bombers” in 2018 like we saw with the Democrats in 1994 and 2010.

Interesting!
I cannot get my mind around what Trump is doing here. I should’ve known something was up listening to Spicer and Pence tap dancing all over the place never answering questions on the specifics of Ryancare. They either didn’t know anything about what this disaster contained, or they were being deceptive.
Trump had no business supporting Ryancare, and was greatly mistaken in attacking the FC.
Another Freeper posted last night that if Trump were given a 20-question test about Ryan's AHCA bill, he probably would have gotten no more than 4 questions right. LOL.
Since neither state or federal governments will help me, a Floridian aged 58, would they please get out of the way of insurance companies that might choose to offer a product I can afford.
They don't all have to be quick steps, but the early steps must show tangible results. That sure as hell wasn't going to happen the way the AHCA was constructed -- and that's why the Freedom Caucus members opposed it so strongly.
Floridians like me want Zero-care gone.
No Medicaid expansion
+
much higher premiums ($150/month -> $500/month)
If elected Republicans cant do better than President Zero, join him in retirement, please.
has the feel of truthful, sane analysis. especially the nugget, that it was the leftist gopes who abandoned ship when their ryancare baby was challenged and materially changed, and that they previously voted for obamacare repeals as a sham show, knowing obama would cover their yes votes with a veto.
Why we simply don't burn it down is beyond me.
We Can Still Get Healthcare Right [Rep. Dave Brat]
The “we” still has to want to “get it right” and I doubt that premise very much. The Uniparty is as crooked as the Despicable party. All anyone in the District of Corruption wants is a lifeti8me job and to hell with the American People.
Post of the Week material here -- for anyone who wants to know why the GOP comes out of this looking like such incompetent losers. If they can't even address the needs of an ordinary American in this position who is willing to pay for his own insurance coverage, then they ought to collectively blow their f#%&ing brains out.
I don't know about you, but I thought we "burned it down" when we elected Donald Trump.
Time will tell, I guess.
Thank you for posting this. Dave Brat is pointing out what we SHOULD AND COULD be doing instead of sinking into the muck of the swamp!
No, not really. I also worry that this defeat is going to bleed over into other fights now like tax reform and the Gorsuch nomination. Will some wavering Republicans now pull back (like on the nuclear option) and cede victories to the Rats?
Bump!
“’just repeal’ is not going to happen. Deal with it.”
Maybe repeal first is what is needed.
As for you Senate “moderates”, you may be hitting the K Street payroll marketplace regardless of what you do.
Millions of us simply can’t pay the 0care-premiums.
Change needs to happen.
