Ministers are braced for a battle over plans to ditch a swathe of EU laws using “Henry VIII” powers.

The government is set to unveil details of the “Great Repeal Bill” this week, part of the formal process of cutting ties with Brussels.

The legislation will convert all EU law on to the UK statute books. But ministers also want to be able to adapt the laws as they are repatriated without full scrutiny by parliament.

Jeremy Corbyn indicated that Labour will oppose the plans today, saying government should not be extending executive powers used by a “dictatorial and anti-democratic” king. …

Does the Magna Carta no longer mean anything to the Brits?

Hank was a snappy dresser, wasn't he? And he loved women. Except for the head-chopping part, but call that a minor character flaw.

What the Brits are objecting to here is a government in which they have no part making binding laws for their country. In other words, no taxation without representation.

Henry VIII is right! And for the same reason Henry did it: reject the established religion of Europe.

21st century Europeans are too blinded by hubris and denial and their new religion, viz. "secularism" or "groupthink" or "the Decadence of Western Civilization" or whatever they want call it, to see that they are rushing inexorably into the same horrors that they endured in the past and will relive in the future.

The election of President Trump is the Americans' proclamation that America will not follow them down that well traveled Road to Hell--well paved with good intentions!

Europe is on the Road to Hell, driven yet again by her incurable suicidal madness. America will not follow her--and the American People are not likely to send their sons to die yet again to rescue Europe from her insanity.

Henry VIII was a tyrant and a madman. He was the typical lib who, if he couldn’t get his way, he changed the laws to suit his needs.

The stage will be set for the row on Thursday when the Government publishes its white paper on the Great Repeal Bill.

Ah good. A good old fashioned Bun fight should erupt over this.

The Government argues it needs the power as a significant proportion of existing EU law will not work properly without changes being made, so ministers must be given the ability to make 'technical' changes quickly.

That makes it a new law...therefore it must go before Parliament.
