To me, Mattis basically seems like a more aggressive version of the same leadership we’ve had for 15+ years.
But he doesn’t understand that the neocon worldview and strategy is the problem, so I can’t see how his attitude will make much difference.
8 years of this will have us exactly where we are in Afghanistan. A place that that Taliban will overrun the minute we depart.
His strategy in Syria is to install a Saudi friendly Sunni rebel government.
At best, under Mattis we might avoid complete humiliation, but that’s about it.

However, if *I* ran our Military, the time for kicking @ss and taking names would already be OVER.
We ARE at war. We have BEEN at war since 9/11.
And so few understand that. :(
