Gergen Said What About Trump?! (Ben Stein)
american spectator ^ | Ben Stein

Dave Gergen was the kindest boss I ever had. He was in charge of me for most of the time I toiled happily as a speechwriter for Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford in 1973 and 1974. Intelligent, witty, a loving and caring man. I still run into him from time to time at lush watering spots. Still always a man to be admired.

That’s why I was surprised today to read that Dave had said that Mr. Trump’s first 100 days were the worst of any President ever.

Really, Dave ? Worse than Lincoln’s first 100 days? When 11 southern states seceded and the War Between the States… that eventually cost 600,000 lives… began? Worse than when Lincoln arrested most of the Maryland legislature to keep them from voting to secede?

Worse than when Chief Justice Roger Taney ordered the officials released under habeas corpus and Lincoln refused and threatened to lock up Chief Justice Taney?

Worse than when FDR passed immense New Deal legislation in 1933 basically turning the free market into a command economy… and then watched almost all of it ruled illegal and unconstitutional?

I’m missing your point, but I presume it’s a Buhler reference. Stein’s main claim to fame.

Ben Stein is generally a good man with a lot of wisdom about the DC crowd.

RE: Why Ben Stein was on the ‘poop list’ for awhile here on FR - I remember that about a year ago Ben was flirting with voting for Hilary Clinton because he did not care for Donald Trump at all. Most of his fans were disbelieving that Ben could actually justify support for Hillary over DJT. However, during the campaign he must have seen the light and came back to a realistic view of the two candidates and then supported Trump’s candidacy.

“I’m missing your point”

Nothing important.

“presume it’s a Buhler reference”

Yes.

“Stein’s main claim to fame.”

Exactly. He’s famous for the annoying, droning, voice. He put it to good use.
