What exactly would we have gained, if this bill had passed?
The media are trumpeting this as a major failure for Trump, a major failure for Republicans.
But is it really??
If this had passed, we would have gotten Obamacare lite. We still would have major parts of Obamacare, major concepts such as government oversight of health insurance and the Medicaid expansion left intact.
I never understood why, when Obama was president, the GOP passed a clean Obamacare repeal bill. Obama vetoed it. But now that Obama is gone, they chose to do an Obamacare lite bill, instead of a clean repeal that could be signed by a GOP president. I don’t get it, I just don’t get it.
No O-care 2.0, and buh-bye to Paul Ryan... this doesn’t feel like a defeat to me.

Was the “reinsurance” (read bailout) of union Cadillac health plans on page 1431 of Obamacare bill retained by fake reform Swampcare?
If so, Screw the heck out of that!!
Then: It was very brave posturing when they knew that Obama would never sign a bill repealing his major “achievement.” So they could introduce a clean repeal bill knowing full well it had zero chance. It meant getting re-elected.
Today: Knowing Trump would sign a clean bill repealing the newest gravy train for the populace, they introduced Obamacare Lite knowing it would fail. Now they can tell the sheeple “we preserved your government cheese for you.” It means getting re-elected.
It’s because most of them hate us.

I think it’s pretty clear that when Obama was president, the GOP passed a clean repeal bill because they were posturing to their base, certain it would be vetoed.
We’d have replaced one law written by the insurance industry with another law written by the insurance industry.
