Senate Republicans had to know there would be a price for their unprecedented theft of President Barack Obama’s final Supreme Court pick last year.
On Thursday, Chuck Schumer, the Senate minority leader, named it: Either find 60 votes to overcome a filibuster of President Trump’s extremely conservative nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, or find another, more moderate choice.
The last four Supreme Court nominees — two from Mr. Obama and two from President George W. Bush — all met the 60-vote threshold, Mr. Schumer said, so it was fair to require the same of Judge Gorsuch.

Reid has already declared that “the senate is no longer a slow, deliberative body” in cases he thought were too important. He tried to qualify that in order to blame Rs for future uses. But the change was done and minorities are not deserving of respect from majorities.
He left no doubt that the filibuster is no longer a tool the minority can use if the majority doesn’t want it. Ds will not allow Rs to use it in the future. Rs have no reason to leave it when it inconveniences them.

The filibuster does not belong on this road at all. If the Democrats put it there it won’t be a roadblock; it will be roadkill.
Make the Democrats conduct an actual filibuster rather than the procedural fantasy. An actual filibuster would expose the Democrats as the real disruptors in government.
That, and Trump keeps him away from his favorite Pizza parlor.
They should stop calling it the "Nuclear Option" and start calling it after its author: the "Reid Option".
Where in the Constitution do I look for super-majority requirement for judicial appointments?
“Love it. They’re going to push the GOP to the nuclear option.”
And pave the way for three or four more SCOTUS appointments by President Trump. Ruth “ACLU” Buzzy will be gone this year for openers, because it won’t be “fun” anymore to be on the court as a permanent minority.
