I actually didn’t mean it in a snarky way.
What I am really hoping is that he has been busy laying the groundwork for a massive number of indictments.
Imagine if you were the AG and you had to bring charges against 1/3 of the political establishment. Where would you start? How would you keep the whole thing from becoming a circus? Do you show up at the Capitol (among other places) with 1000’s of officers to arrest them all at once? How do you ensure that the arresting officers are not part of the problem? How do you keep the plan under wraps until you execute it?
The politics of the entire operation would be a nightmare on top of the logistical considerations. The paperwork alone would be epic.
Where do you put all these people? Do you have enough jail cells? How do you keep them from fleeing the country? Do you separate them into categories? Do you sort by severity of involvement? What do you do with those who are borderline, i.e., maybe the evidence isn’t rock solid, but it’s a good bet they are guilty? Do you wait until it’s rock solid against all of them? Or maybe you start with the lower level people, maybe not the congress critters at all, but members of their staffs. But will that tip off the high level targets?
This would be a heck of an operation to plan and execute. And once the ball starts rolling, the risk of making a mistake (in either direction) is mind-boggling.
If one third of office holders were to be guilty, how many staff, friends and relatives are involved?
The only thing that would have a chance of working would be martial law. And then you have to be sure those military types you put in charge are 100 per cent loyal.
There would be no fool proof way to pull it off.
