Paycheck protection: Tough to swallow
Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | 3/20/17 | Tribune Review

As union honchos for government workers describe it, the paycheck protection legislation that passed the state Senate last month amounts to a political gag order on workers. But if there's any actual “gagging” going on, it's in attempting to swallow this union shibboleth.

The Senate bill bars state, local government and school district employers from deducting any portion of union dues from workers' paychecks that fund political activity. Deductions for contract negotiations and other costs remain unchanged.

Union members can back any political figure they like.

What total jiberish.

All this does is shut the union boss’ mouth.

Yippee!

Anything that disempowers the union bosses is a good thing. The business of forced unionization has got to end during the Trump administration.

I don’t like unions one bit. If people are big enough fools to join them, I don’t know what we can do about it.

As for government workers, there’s no way in hell those folks should be able to form collectives against us. You want to work for a government salary, you agree with their policies, take what they pay, or find other work.

I do not believe the should be able to force government policy.

Some government workers are forced to join the union—that seems criminal to me. From what I hear, the unions do squat for the workers.

A lot of workers in the private sector really don’t have a choice but to join a union.

Pennsylvania needs to get on the right-to-work bandwagon.
Maybe this the first step in that direction.

This law doesn’t go anywhere near far enough. We need national “right to work”.

I work for the local County which is unionized unfortunately
They have littered the bulletin boards with flyers against the Constitutional Convention in NYS. Grinds my gears!

I think you’re on the right track there, from what I’ve seen.

It would me too, I can guarantee you.

That right there is a prime reason why public employee areas should be forbidden to unionize.

Take a job or not, if you like/dislike their policies, but don’t complain. Get out if you are unhappy.
