The ex-British spy who wrote the so-called Trump dossier briefed FBI agents on his research at the beginning of July, much earlier than previously believed.
Weeks after the briefing with the retired spy, Christopher Steele, the FBI formally opened its investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russian government.
FBI director Jim Comey confirmed the existence and general date of the investigation during testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee on Monday.
According to Yahoo! News, federal government sources said Steele briefed investigators on his findings on July 5. That was around two weeks after the ex-MI6 agent wrote the first of the 17 memos that make up what has been dubbed the Trump dossier.

Steele began researching Trumps links to Russia after being hired by Fusion GPS, an opposition research firm working for Democratic operatives.
According to previous reports about Steele, the ex-spy eventually turned some of his research over to the FBI because he felt it was so inflammatory. He grew frustrated in the following months because he felt the FBI was not taking his reporting seriously. But the FBI came knocking for Steele again in October, according to The Washington Post. The paper reported earlier this month that the bureau struck an informal deal with Steele to continue his research.
Steele was never paid for his work, though it is unclear why. Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has asked Comey to explain the arrangement with Steele. He is also questioning why the bureau was relying on research compiled by an investigator hired by a pro-Clinton operative.

It wasn’t “weeks after” they met with Steele, since Comey, the Democrat shill, said their investigation began in July. They started the investigation right after meeting with this fiction writer.
“Steele was never paid for his work,....”
More accurately, it should be ‘there is no record of how or by whom Steele was paid for his work.’
This is really very remarkable.
The swamp creatures are quite agitated.
So the FBI wastes months investigating an imaginary Russian involvement in Trump’s campaign while igniting known irregularities in Clinton’s emails, foreign donations and involvements in her campaign?!??
.
And Comey still has a job??
Grassleys letter to the FBI regarding the FBI paying Mr. Steele for the dossier, mucks things up for McCain.
The FBI knew about Steele and paid him for the dossier in October.
So far nobody is asking the questions:
Why use McCain as a bag man for the dossier in December ?
Who really informed McCain about it in the first place ?
Then why play it as if the FBI didn’t know about it until McCain turned it over ?
“They started the investigation right after meeting with this fiction writer.”
The investigation was also started right after the June 30 Tarmac meeting in Phoenix. So take you pick.
This hack, Steele is still in hiding.
If he is so proud of his work, why doesn’t he come out of hiding and
defend his fiction?
McCain has some questions that need to be answered.

broke here and nobody connected the dots that the FBI first had the dossier in July, not via McCain in December.
I take that back. The FBI did NOT pay Steele.
> And Comey still has a job??
Not for much longer. Jail time is in Comey’s future.
Tim Kaine, too.
Why would a British citizen when you change the US Election. Investigate this so our voting can be preserved.
Interestingly Steele was first employed by GOPe nevertrumpers (Yeb Bushco and friends)
Then when Trump secured the nomination, Steele peddled his services to the Clintonistas
Somewhere in the web he also tried to sell his services to the FBI- and when they stiffed him, well he just kept peddling - because he he was such a great patriot and concerned citizen, of course. He actually uncovered the shocking revelation that Trump’s foreign policy preference was to make an accommodation with Russia over Crimea instead of tearing Ukraine apart in a civil war and taking the US into WW3 if necessary. This was very valuable and highly secret intelligence (unless you listened to Trump’s speeches)
Obviously only a dangerous Russian tool would consider a policy of making deals with Russia.../sarc
He "laundered" it into the public domain, to cover for the fact that this "dossier" had been shopped around the country all year long, so much so that it had a nickname among those who were aware of it: "The Thing."
Yes, oddly enough the intelligence committee has yet to call Mr Steele to testify about his intelligence he collected on Trump’s contacts with Russia
Like when Trump made the cmapiagn rally joke about asking the Russians to release Hillary’s missing 33,000 emails - this was in Steeles dossier
obviously a highly classified operation by Trump to have Putin hack Hillary
/sarc
how does the steele time line fit with the fisa warrants on trump/trump tower?
one in summer was turned down.
the second in october was enforeced.
Yes McCain needs to be dealt with.
thanks for that link
