Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr plays role of Good Samaritan

For years, the Oakland Raiders were known for being the NFL’s renegade franchise. Their fans reside in the “Black Hole” and refer to themselves as the “dark side.” However, it’s difficult for the organization to keep their scary reputation with Derek Carr as their quarterback. The face of the Raiders just happens to be one of the nicest players in the league.

The genuine, always-smiling and friendly Carr struck again on Tuesday.

..

As he pulled to the side of the road and prepared to take a gas can to the gas station for a fill-up, a young man in a dark SUV pulled up and asked Reeser if all was OK. When he told the stranger of his issue, the driver told Reeser to hop in and he would drive him to a gas station.

..

As Reeser was leaving, Carr asked him if there if were anything Reeser would like to him to pray for. Reeser mentioned three things. Carr then asked if he could pray for him, and put his hand on Reeser’s shoulder and prayed.

“It was such an empowering moment,” Reeser said. “It’s just not something I expected to happen after running out of gas. Some of the people I’ve told about it said maybe it was a sign to help me restore my faith in people doing the right thing.”

{..snip..}

Carr is in for the Tim Tebow treatment from the sports media, for sure.

I've been a Raider fan for over 40 years and Derek Carr has brought this team back from the abyss. He's not just a good young quarterback, he's a good person. I hope his leg is fully healed and he is ready to play again.

I’ve been a Raiders fan for decades also, you the only other one I recall seeing on FR. I went to the games every chance I could when I lived there.:-)

I live in New England so I only get to see them when they play the Giants, Jets or Patriots. It's good to see them get back to being a winning team. I think Derek Carr will bring them many winning seasons and another Superbowl. They just have to give him the supporting cast he needs.

Yes, my son and I were proud of the Raiders last season. So how did you come to be a Raiders fan? I’m from there so I have an excuse, lol.

Carr has made the Raiders likable again.
Their fans on the other hand.....
Well, they suck, so the Raiders are leaving their fans. Ha!

LOL, I an old Raider Hater Seahawk fan back in the day of being AFC West rivals.
I loved watching the Raiders this last season though.

My father was a Ken Stabler and Dave Casper fan when I was growing up. He got me interested in the team and I stuck with them. I always liked their style of football.
