Facing a bread shortage that is spawning massive lines and souring the national mood, the Venezuelan government is responding this week by detaining bakers and seizing establishments.
In a press release, the National Superintendent for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights said it had charged four people and temporarily seized two bakeries as the socialist administration accused bakers of being part of a broad economic war aimed at destabilizing the country.
In a statement, the government said the bakers had been selling underweight bread and were using price-regulated flour to illegally make specialty items, like sweet rolls and croissants.
The government said bakeries are only allowed to produce French bread and white loaves, or pan canilla, with government-imported flour. However, in a tweet on Thursday, price control czar William Contreras said only 90 percent of baked goods had to be price-controlled products.

Only a government that prizes ideology over common sense would sit on the world’s largest oil reserves while simultaneously inflicting a food crisis on the country.
And they still can’t see their way out.
For the leadership, it’s not a lack of common sense, it’s a greedy grasp on absolute power. Socialists need socialism (along with bread lines, political prisons and ultimately mass murder) to maintain themselves in power. They have nothing to offer. No skills. Nothing. Their only possible job is ruthless dictatorship. Without that, they’d be unemployed bums in a thriving capitalist society.
Likewise the coddled kids in rich western universities who dream of socialism, they too, like their leadership heroes in socialist totalitarian regimes, have no skills, no hope of productive lives other than grabbing power, enslaving everyone else and being the ruthless bosses of society.

BUREAUCRATISM You have 2 cows.
The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then throws the milk away.
Reminds me of the scene in "Never Cry Wolf".
The US Government biologist is dropped off in the snowy wilds of Alaska to study wolves. They sent him with a canoe, a rifle, tent and crates of "supplies". The crates turn out to be full of Government requisition forms, "In case you need anything." No food.
When his tent is overrun with field mice, he remembers seeing the wolves eating mice by the dozens. So, he cooks up a few - "Not bad."
Went he relates his problem & solution to a neighboring Indian/Eskimo, the neighbor replies, "Good idea!"
Great scene, great movie!

They are trying to make up for lost tax revenue by printing money which leads to inflation. Then they try to stop the inflation with price controls. Its a predictable pattern.
