Is that a threat, or a promise?
I posted this in the Rasmussen thread, but maybe it’ll get some more visibility here. I’m genuinely curious:
I haven’t been following closely, but can someone tell me what’s so horrible about the House bill? Left-wing blogs like the Huffinglue Post are in full meltdown mode over it, so that tends to make me think it’d be a big improvement over what we have.
My understanding is that they can’t get a clean full repeal w/o 60 votes, and this can clear with 51. Then, standalone bills for interstate markets, tort reform, etc and the like will be offered as standalone bills and vulnerable D’s will be forced to get on record.
I realize that is probably not the complete answer - that there’s more they can repeal with 51 that they’re leaving on the table out of fear of political blowback. However, even if the GOP had the stomach for full repeal (which I doubt, let’s be honest), can someone explain what the strategy is to get that bill to Trump’s desk? Or, is the strategy to have it get blocked in the senate, let Obamacare continue to collapse the system until Democrats are desperate to help (hopefully after they get massacred in 2018)? Or, is the strategy to hope that McConnell finishes off the filibuster for good (yeah right)?
Repeal obamacare or allow it to collapse on its own.

If the Democrats refuse to vote for any bill to replace Obamacare, just repeal it.
Apply existing law to the Health Care Industry - i.e. arrest and jail violators of anti-trust, discriminatory / predatory pricing and other laws. Trump can do this today. He needs no additional authority to do so.
Watch as prices fall to sustainable levels where practically everyone can afford to pay for a visit to the doctor out of pocket. IOW eliminate the NEED for so called “Health Insurance”.
Then repeal. There will no longer be a need.
Eliminate Medicare / Medicaid. They will be largely unneeded. Hospitals can be reimbursed on a cost basis by the state if necessary for treatment of the truly destitute.

That's where our healthcare was before the 70's and it was the envy of the world - the highest quality and most affordably-available healthcare in the world.
Not to mention the feds have no constitutional authority to meddle with healthcare. Nobody seem to get that or care about that.
