New Mexico Democrats are assigning a new bill number to failed gun control legislation in hopes of reviving an effort to ban private gun sales.
The failed billHB 50and will likely be renumbered HB 548 and taken up by the NM House Judiciary Committee on Monday.
HB 50 was sponsored by State Representative Stephanie Garcia Richard (D-Los Alamos). It mandates that New Mexico residents seek out an agent of the statea Federal Firearms License holder (FFL)and undergo a background check on every gun sale, whether retail or private. In other words, HB 50 is about universal background checks.
The NRA-ILA is sounding the alarm on the attempt to switch HB 50 to HB 548:

Sounds to me as though New Mexico has a RAT and RINO infestation in their state capitol.
We’re aware. The NM Sheriffs association have come out strongly against this bill (in whatever number or form), the NRA rep will be in Santa Fe and SASS is sending a contingent.
Some of you are apparently "triggered" because you are posting how "sick" you feel about the results.
How did this happen you ask? (Well here is how it happened!)
[snip]You created "us" when you attacked our right to bear arms.
Awesome. Even though we don’t live in NM, I still have good thoughts of when I did. Well, less all the libs that have infested the state. ;-)
What about the “background check” bill that narrowly passed in Nevada last November?
Wasn’t that ruled unenforceable?

Garcia Richard is the gun grabber bill sponsor.
Wasn’t Valerie weaponised early in her “career”?
The bill refers to “gun sales”. That is a LIE, as it will apply to gun TRANSFERS, which includes sales, but also gifts, loans, and any other transfer from one set of hands to another. They pulled this crap up here in Washington. EVERY news story referred to “sales”.
If the sales are private, how would the gov’t know?
Well, it passed as an initiative on the ballot (mainly Clark county/vegas pushed it over for the needed numbers) but there is a conflict as to to who does the background check. The current existing NRS does it in house and the initiative required it to go through the NICS system. DOH! The state AG said sorry. It probably won’t be implemented although the current dementocrat controlled legislation is trying to figure out a way to get it to work. But, according to the rules for initiatives in NV, you can’t change or amend them for 3 years once they pass. At least that’s the way I understand it. Besides which, the majority of the sheriffs don’t want to expend scarce resources for crap like this. Well, except maybe Clark county.
How dare you post a picture of the famous female US james bond. Did they name the one person after a comic book?
If I dared to do it, then she sure didn’t keep her identity secret from the newspapers....
Oh, look at me, I’m a spy!!!!

Hmmmm. I guess “contempt” would be a fitting word for her and her lyin’ husband. Falls under the “life ain’t fair” heading I suppose.

You need to make a personal visit to Santa Fe. If you thought Berkeley, CA was nutty, you’d be truly amazed at the goings on in Santa Fe. My wife’s overweight cousin and her retired Northeastern States professor husband live there, because they couldn’t afford to retire in California. “New” Mexico is aptly named.
They had the same stupid Bloomturd super duper “background check” crap on the ballot here in Maine last November.
The commercials on radio and television paid for by Bloomturd were overwhelming. The “No” side had very few commercials....no money.
The police chiefs in Maine ran commercials supporting the end to private sales, the sheriffs of Maine were opposed to the measure passing and appeared in a fewer number of political ads.
Bloomturd lost; the super duper background check BS was defeated by the voters.
Killed in the House Judiciary committee. Good news that.
