Liberals are terrified of Trump because they know that their great myth, once the light of consciousness has been shined on it, will dissolve as quickly as a grain of salt in water. As Steele puts it, the "president rolls his eyes when he is called a racist, and we all – liberal and conservative alike – know that he isn't one." Elizabeth Warren's Jeff Sessions rant was just that: a hysterical rant, and everyone knows it. "White guilt," and all that goes with it, is now just tiresome noise. There is no reality to liberals' mental myth of the enlightened state. Once it comes under awareness, it dissolves.

The great panic on the left and the resultant attacks on Trump are the left's response to this fear.

One thing for sure: virtue signaling is dead now. It is obvious that they have no virtue, and no amount of moral preening is going to change that.
Identity politics is like a heroin addiction for liberal Dems.
After getting beat up in this last election riding the horse of identity politics, they paused, reflected for a moment, considered maybe they should try to attract working class whites. And, nah, right back to crack alley with race card politics. They have solutions for nothing other than which “victimized”identity group they will be purchasing votes from using other peoples money.
Notice the RATS don’t conduct polling on *anything* anymore. Public sentiment now terrifies them when they see what their own popularity is.
