In some cases the offenses are so blatant that even the Dims have to act.

In 1988, Judge Alcee Hastings was impeached by a democrat majority House 413-3 and convicted by the Democrat Majority US Senate in 8 of 11 counts in 1989.

Usually after impeachment and removal, the offender is not eligible to hold federal elected or appointed office, however in Hasting's case this was not applied.
