Conservative activist organization FreedomWorks released a statement expressing support for the Freedom Caucus’s opposition to Speaker Ryan’s “Obamacare-lite” bill.

FreedomWorks issued their statement in the wake of the Freedom Caucus’s press conference with Senators Rand Paul (R-KY) and Mike Lee (R-UT) opposing the speaker’s plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.

I don’t want to change Obamacare, I want it repealed.

They passed a repeal and sent it to Obama.
Pass it again and send it to Trump.

Let us parse this current offering for “repeal and replace”.

It is rather like a multi-step program to detoxify a serious heroin addict, not by “cold turkey” but by first a substitution of a similar but much less addictive drug for the heroin, like, for example, Methadone, a slow-acting opioid agonist, that satisfies the cravings but does not produce the highs. The craving is still there, but the withdrawal symptoms are dampened down to tolerable levels.

There are other remedies, but they may not be applied until a new comfort level is reached, because either the patient is less likely to be compliant, or the adverse reactions are nearly as bad as the “cold turkey” withdrawal symptoms.

This “Ryancare” is an interim attempt to detoxify the worst aspects of Obamacare, with fewer of the withdrawal symptoms. Use it as a step-by-step reversal, not as a final answer.

Works in progress should be encouraged. Otherwise there may never be any progress.

Rep Jim Jordan and Sen Rand Paul are going to introduce a clean REPEAL bill....
which is one of the main reasons - among many! - that we all voted for Trump for, this election and what the House has previously voted on.

Sen Paul has already introduced his plan, and Rep Sanford introduced a companion bill (to Paul’s bill).

Lyin Ryan’s bill is horrid. I don’t like seeing Trump supporting it, in any way. I’m glad he (Trump) did follow up with the reminder that it’s in the negotiation stage.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the “ObamaCare Repeal Act”.

SEC. 2. Repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.

(a) Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.—Effective as of the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111–148), such Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted.
