“Elisabeth Bumiller, the bureau chief, said the January story was referring to information picked up from wiretaps and other intelligence collected overseas, a process that requires no warrants.”

How did they pick up a transcript of Trump’s recently resigned NSA director’s phone conversation while he was in Trump tower with the Russian ambassador who was in the US at the time if this was “from wiretaps overseas”.Ditto with Trump campaign staff,Manafort and Page, who are US based. How were they able to clear them of nefarious relationship with the Russians if intel or the FBI never interviewed them? Were they being monitored in the US “from overseas”?
Were they using British M16 as proxy to monitor without a warrant?

I have a horrible feeling that that's exactly what they did.

And that there might be a reciprocal arrangement between intelligence agencies of different countries to end-run the laws of their own states.
