Assuming that “Kamari” was,in fact, guilty of Murder 1 this can only be seen as a *very* happy ending.

The lawyer said he’s known the family of the victim for over two decades. A pretty good guess that the family considers Cook County jail a second home and this lawyer has been a busy man representing them in court.

Cook County prosecutors in January dropped murder charges against Belmont and his co-defendant, Terrance Hogan, 23, after allowing too much time to elapse under the states speedy trial statute without bringing the case to trial Seems to me that the Cook County prosecutors are a big part of the problem if they let this happen.
When they have an opportunity to remove murdering scumbags from the streets and flub it by not doing their job in a timely manner they aren't doing the job they are paid to do and are further endangering the lives of innocent people.

He went right from Cook County jail to Cook County morgue with no stopover at Cook County hospital. Seems like he saved Chicago taxpayers some money. How very thoughtful of him...or whoever shot him.
