I read he got stuck on the tracks.
I’m guessing that the bus got high-centered crossing the track. This eyewitness says the bus was stuck fo 5-10 minutes before train hit it. It seems like it would have be a good idea to evacuate the bus once they got stuck on a railroad crossing! http://www.sunherald.com/news/local/traffic/article136966968.html
My car was stuck on railroad tracks once (long story). The crowd all said AWWWW when the train stopped just short of hitting my car. No, wasn’t my fault...like I said, long story.
Yeah. Me too. BUT, there were signs posted at the tracks about the crest of the crossing and low clearance, bottoming out, etc. He must have not read those or ignored them. Probably simply did not even pay attention to the signs. You know how people are about signs and the millions of signs there are along the roadway. If you TRIED to read every road sign, you would be in a ditch. There was an old 1960’s song about signs, “Signs, signs, everywhere a sign . . .” Ever heard that? It probably fits here.
