Mexico upset that returning illegals are speaking English

Isn't it irritating when foreigners come into a country in large numbers and refuse to speak the native language? It is irritating to Mexicans, who find that some deported illegals who return home are speaking English!

.....It really interrupts the economic and social norms of Mexico[.] ... They speak English, and they're asking for access to higher education and to employment in ways that their parents were not able to.

What's next? "Barrios" or "neighborhoods" where all the signs are in English? Will people have to "press 1" to speak to someone in Spanish?

....."Many of these people come not knowing how to speak Spanish," said Amalia García, secretary of Mexico City's labor department.

Illegals returning to Mexico do receive a warm welcome, at least in the beginning.

.....Welcome back!" a government worker called out. As they filed into Mexico City International Airport, government employees handed them free ham-and-cheese sandwiches, Mexican ID cards and information directing them to social services.

Free ham and cheese and social services! Next thing you know, Mexico will become a welfare magnet!

... the loss of remittances from the United States – Mexico's second-largest source of revenue at roughly $25 billion last year – could have devastating effects, particularly in rural areas.

.....Not liking their chances here, several of the men made a beeline toward a nearby bus terminal to find a way back to the border.

Questions for discussion:

Will every deported illegal alien get his own article in the Washington Post, or just the ones who didn't kill Americans while driving drunk on the road?

Do you think that even once, you will ever see an article about the deportation of illegal aliens from the perspective of an American who benefits from the enforcement of the law?

I’ve been in Mexico! The signs are all in Spanish! No parking, open, restroom.

I could not leave the hardware store in Mexico City because nothing was labeled “exit”!

And nobody told me that an “E” with a slash through it means “we will tow your car”!

Good. Now they’ll understand how annoying they’ve been to us for so many years of listening to Spanish. Trump needs to make English the official language.

I call Bullshiite! The returning illegals can't speak Spanish? What a load, I find it really amazing in that in the USA they all played at not being able to speak English, demanding interpreters at taxpayer expense or using their anchor ATM's as translators, and I'm supposed to believe that suddenly, magically they had the Spanish language wiped from their brains? If you believe this craptastic tale of woe, I have some lovely beach front property in the Mojave to sell you.

Oh, one more gripe with the story, if they are Mexican citizens returning to Mexico they are not illegals, they are expats or maybe a better description would be failed reconquistas.

What’s wrong with them speaking English? I am sure tourism could use some people with that talent.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that they don't speak any Spanish.

A lot of the Mexicans are illiterate (can’t read or write in any language) so sending them back is a good thing. It raises the literacy rate for both countries.

LOL, exactly.

I spent 10 days in mexico a couple years ago. Not a single store there, despite raking in the dough from gringo tourism, created bi lingual stores. It was MY job to figure it out, and rightfully so.

So, how is your new life in that store? Hardware store. Could be worse.

The Mexican government is correct in being very afraid of Americanized Mexicans, because they have seen better things: better government, better employment standards, and far better personal advancement than are *permitted* in Mexico.

To explain, Mexico has long been under the yoke of “Old Europe disease”, in which a dozen very wealthy families control all the wealth and power. And unlike in the US, they neither want greater prosperity for everyone else, but they have the spiritual sickness that they cannot enjoy their wealth unless surrounded by poverty.

Compare two billionaires, Bill Gates and Carlos Slim. Through his business, Gates has created a dozen or more billionaires, hundreds of multi-multi millionaires, and a legion of millionaires and prosperous other people. And it doesn’t bother him in the slightest.

Carlos Slim, on the other hand, about as wealthy as Gates, has likely created *no* wealthy people, outside of the already wealthy dozen families. The overwhelming majority of his employees, be they wage or salary employed, get the very minimum for their labor.

And government rules in Mexico, on top of that, work very hard to keep the public from enriching itself.

However, Americanized Mexicans are not going to accept this at all. The North Vietnamese learned the harsh lesson that Americans make the very worst POWs you can imagine. They have no end to their creativity, and are revitalized by resisting brutal oppressors.

Once enough Americanized Mexicans return to Mexico, there will be a revolution there. It may be peaceful or bloody, but it will mean the end of their status quo. And result in a far better life for the typical Mexican on the street, even if it comes at the expense of a dozen swinish families, convinced of their hereditary right to rule and be wealthy.

Not liking their chances here, several of the men made a beeline toward a nearby bus terminal to find a way back to the border.

"The situation here doesn't look good," said Luis Enrique Castillo, 47, adding that he planned to return to his wife, four children and two grandchildren in Chicago, where he lived for 20 years.

I don't think it's going to be as easy for you this time around, Esse...
