FBI Director James Comey asked Justice Department officials to publicly reject President Donald Trump's claims that former President Barack Obama ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower, The New York Times reported Sunday. A senior U.S. official confirmed the newspaper's reporting to NBC News.
The Times reported that Comey requested that the Justice Department publicly rebut the president's allegations — which he posted on Twitter without evidence — because the claims are untrue and suggest that the FBI broke the law. Comey's appeal pits him against the president.
But, The Times added, Comey is having difficulty knocking the story down because there are only a few politically appointed Justice Department officials who could approve a statement, as Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from anything pertaining to the government's investigation into alleged connections between Russia and the Trump campaign.
Despite Comey's s request, Trump's White House did not back off on Sunday and called for Congress to investigate.
"President Donald J. Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committees exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016," White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said in a statement....

READ what he said very carefully and remember, every word has specific meaning, and separate Comey’s actual words from those that are spun around it by the media, as they always do.
According to one “senior official”, Comey asked the Justice Dep’t (run by his boss) to “ publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones”.
I don’t know what Comey actually said, do you? If so, please post his exact words on this thread because I can’t find them. But I can find lots of examples of what the NYT says someone told them he said.
Fake news! Get the exact wording and then analyze Comey’s statement before casting judgement. THose who prejudge Comey will do so at their own peril.

All Comey has to do is state that there “was no Fisa order signed at the request of Obama’s puppet Lynch and no surveillance performed of any type at Trump Tower by the FBI”.
Think about it. Say Pres Trump is right, as he has been about, pretty much everything.
Say, AG Sessions goes to the FISA Court and gets the warrant and the affidavit, for the wire tap. Right there in black and white will be, what I know, should be a very lengthy affidavit detailing exactly why they need to go up on a wire. I’ve never written a wiretap warrant. I’ve never even read one, as they’re usually done by the Feds and require certain clearances or ‘need to know’. But, I have seen them. They are like a short novel. The affiant has to prove that they “only” way they can get the evidence they need to prosecute a crime, is to go up on a wire. They have to have a criminal target. Not so sure that a guy running for President, qualify’s for any of that.
But, if the FBI did get one and went up on it, having Comey in place, is pure genius. Pres Trump will be able to start taking the machine apart with a wrecking ball, not piecemeal at a time. He’ll be able to show that it certainly wasn’t him trying to manipulate the election, it was obama and the Left. Then, he’ll be able to have the AG put the affiant under the hot lamp and question why they asked for the warrant in the first place. More than likely, that person ends up committing suicide in Ft Marcy park, by shooting him/herself twice in the head and still being able to hold onto the gun.
If Pres Trump is right, then obama’s ‘silent coup’ is over and those members of the DeepState and Establishment better start looking for work.
