The Media Pretends Not to Know the Wiretapping of Trump They Are Using
Frontpage ^ | March 5, 2017 | Daniel Greenfield

Posted on 03/05/2017 5:24:55 AM PST by detective

It's 2017 and the marketplace of ideas is so deeply degraded that even simple discussions become impossible. And so the media simultaneously reports on the very eavesdropping of Trump and his people carried out under Obama. All the while insisting that Trump's accusation of wiretapping is "unproven", that Trump "offers no evidence" and that he traffics in conspiracy theories. The wiretapping was widely reported by the very media that is now pretending to have no idea what is being discussed.

The only conspiracy theory on the table here is whether Obama and his people played any role in the spying. And considering the IRS being used to target Obama's enemies, the filmmaker behind one Obama movie ending up in jail, the filmmaker behind another movie Obama didn't like also ending up in jail, it's not much of a reach.

The official claim is that the wiretapping was a national security matter. But there's a basic problem with spying on your opponents, then leaking the material to your media allies while pretending that you're only recreating Watergate x 1000 because you're such a patriot. The Watergate buggers thought they were patriots too. And the Democrats had more ties to the Russians than Trump did.   At this point, we know there was extensive spying on Trump's people, both by domestic services under Obama, and also some European services. Their only defense is that there's fire as well as smoke. If there turns out not to be a fire, then what we have is indeed Watergate.   And ought to be treated as such.

Naw. Make you them sweat for a bit. Why should Trump have to produce the goods right out the gate when the accusations against him haven’t been proven. 2 can get the play this game.

I absolutely agree with everything you said. However, I do not discount the possibility of this being the “stick” as opposed to a “carrot” in some undisclosed negotiation between Trump and those trying to destroy his presidency.

The charge is profoundly serious, serious people want serious evidence.

I agree..? has anyone got a lick of evidence that Trump colluded with the Russian to hack the election?
And if they do why haven’t they presented it?
Cause they don’t?

Trump plays the Marx-0-Progs like a master violinst. He dribbles out an outrageous tweet. The Marx-0-Progs deny it for a few days.

He then releases the evidence and accomplishes two things: 1) Guilt, 2) Prove the Marx-0-Progs are liars.

The fake story Trump campaign colluded with the Russians is obvious now was made up as an excuse to have a federal judge ok the wiretapping whose real purpose was to meddle with the opposing political parties run for office. I have friends who are completely clueless , even to this day with all the new revelations, of warrent shopping by the Obama Administration, they actually believe the Trump will going to jail , and all this chatter by trump is proof he is lyimg and the CIA has the goods on him... its astounding the media can spin such lies, that people will believe anything...

The media is reporting on conversations that could ONLY be learned from "wiretaps".

Another way...

Has it dawned on the American people, in general, that the ONLY way the claims of collusion with the Russians could be known is by "wiretaps"?

The disconnect from reality here is almost unfathomable. The Obama Administration used 'National Security' as an excuse to go to the FISA court so they could use the Intelligence Agencies to spy on the Trump Campaign. The FISA Court turned them down in June. They went to the FISA Appellate panel, which are ALL Clinton Appointees and got the warrant. They then shared that intelligence illegally with the Clinton campaign and the media.

I quite agree that it is good tactics to keep some powder dry for counterpunching etc. However, five o'clock in the morning tweets without more are good for 24 hours but not more.

The President of the United States owes the country specificity. It is beneath his office to play games. It is certainly beneath his office to make charges without evidence. He does not have to reveal all the evidence but he certainly must make some sort of prima facie case.

24 hours ain’t that long.
Besides, it looks like the longer he waits, the longer the drop will be before the loop in the rope snaps taut.

Would not surprise me in the least if the Trump Train has known about this since before the election and has been spoon feeding the eavesdroppers all kinds of misinformation.

Would certainly go a long way in explaining how the RATS, the “polls” and the media “got it so wrong” in their election predictions.

Are you INSANE?

Despite my disagreements with NBF, to call his insights “tiresome” is breathtakingly supercilious.

People have been calling for proof that the Russians hacked the election. Has Chris Wallace asked for proof of that allegation? Maybe I missed it. The allegation was put out there as though the accusation was settled, with no call for proof at the time it was made public.

After all, good reporters do keep the playing field fair and balanced..

And if they do why haven’t they presented it? Cause they don’t?

And that is precisely why Trump must present his evidence, or at least a prima facie case that his phones were tapped, that Obama did it or he will suffer the same loss of credibility which you so correctly attach to the Democrats.

I cannot speak for Chris Wallace, but I have heard countless commentators on Fox countless times distinguish between hacking the election and hacking the Democratic National Committee and emphasizing that there is no evidence that Russian activities affected the outcome of the election.

I believe they cited the director of the FBI to that effect.

He bores me as well. What I find ironic is that he eschews guerrilla political tactics in favor of Napoleonic warfare but but uses Nathan forest as his avatar lololol

Were those horses shot out from under him, or as I suspect, they committed suicide?

BTW, Mark Levin is currently on fire on Fox & Friends, showing pretty clearly that Trump has evidence of wiretapping despite the usual panty-waists here caterwauling.

I think your 24 hour timeline is artificial. President Trump deserves the chance to play this his way, without your timeline. To try to impose it, despite the opposition never being required to provide actual evidence for anything, effectively puts you on the opposition side.

One of Alinky’s rules is to use the conservative’s rules against them. Your timeline is exactly enforcing that.
