Immigration agents detained an undocumented Los Angeles father of four U.S.-born children as he was about to drop off his daughter at school earlier this week, dramatic video shows.
Romulo Avelica-Gonzalez, a 48-year-old Mexican immigrant who has lived and worked in the country for over 25 years, was pulled over by agents a few blocks from his 12-year-old daughter's school in Pasadena on Tuesday morning, attorney Emi MacLean told the Daily News.
The agents, donning blue jackets with the word "police" emblazoned across their backs, cuffed Avelica-Gonzalez and placed him in an unmarked vehicle, as his daughter and wife could be heard in a video weeping from the backseat.
Avelica-Gonzalez was taken to a nearby detention center, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials informed his family members that he was set to be deported the very same evening.

Yes, he does have a criminal record. Every day for the past 25 years he’s been in the country as an illegal is a criminal act.

His job, at the Ekstrom and Schmidt Nursery, was a few minutes’ drive away. His wife, Rosalina, made him a cup of coffee with breakfast to go and packed him a sack lunch. Zaragoza-Sanchez always left early for work.
“He likes to be on time,” Rosalina said in Spanish. “He’s very responsible.”
She hasn’t seen him since that morning.
Looks like a good negotiating tactic if he is a “non-criminal illegal”. Trump’s already dropped hints (i.e. said) he wants to be humane, have a big wall for re-entry, be fair to dreamers, etc. He’s got big demands (i.e. the wall, ending sanctuary cities, etc) but is willing to bargain for them.
The dems can either tell their people to keep resisting and keep being scared for at least 4 years, or can work with Trump to stop deporting “good illegals”. The longer it goes on people will feel that resistance is more and more futile and they don’t want to live in fear like the dems want them to for political reasons.
I know a lot of people will hate Trump if e accepts but the dems could go to him and say any/all of
* we’ll build the wall (physical and virtual/visa-overstays)
* we’ll stop sanctuary cities
* we’ll help deport “bad illegals”
* we’ll give up on citizenship and accept legalization
If you stop deporting people like this.
And, if Mexico cares about it’s citizens living in the US (a big IF), they’d agree to pay for the wall to stop this kind of deportation.
They probably didn't have a deportation order on the wife. A lot of aliens were captured and released but never showed up for their hearings. When they don't show up for their deportation hearings an order of deportation will issue. Once the Order is issued then ICE can grab them up and put them on the next bus to Tijuana.
I am assuming a lot of these heartstring cases are in that category.
I suspect there may be millions of these default orders out there.
Have to get through all the tear jerking paragraphs of the article to find in the last sentence that the illegal had a prior DUI conviction.

I thought if you were here illegally that would disqualify you from citizenship. How do you go from illegal to legal?
This will be replayed constantly with the wailing. Looks like they got a temporary stay. If they let him go it will set a precedent that we do not need.

Bad optics. I wonder if some of the ICE people are in fact not on board and are playing up the drama.
