An illegal alien who held a press conference to complain about immigration enforcement under the Trump administration was subsequently taken into custody by ICE agents during a "targeted enforcement action."
There was an immediate outcry from immigrant rights groups to protest the detention of Daniela Vargas, who came to the US with her parents when she was 7 years old. Vargas had been granted residency under the Obama administration DREAM program but failed to pay the renewal fee and was thus subject to detention and deportation.

Hopefully ICE rounded up any illegal supporters in the crowd as well.
GET ‘EM OUT!
It is hard to blame them too much. They violated the law for years, decades, and nobody ever enforced it.
Meanwhile, politicians from both parties were telling them, “We will have amnesty, we are getting it done.”
If I were in their place, I would have become complacent as well.
Not enforcing the law has caused enormous problems, not just for us, but for them as well.
It's one thing to live your life ubobtrusively as an illegal alien in the US. It's quite another to spit in the face of immigration enforcement officials by openly defying the law by holding a press conference and bragging about your status.
Yep. Don't hold a press conference to complain about the country you're illegally squatting in. Bad form. I really hope they deport her.
apples and oranges! This lady knew she was going to have the press present as well as Law Enforcement. Did she really think they would ignore her situation because they did in the past? So much winning. Throw every single illegal out of the country. No reason for them to be here. No reason the average citizen has to support them.
This story is really getting ported around the net by all sorts of outlets. I’ve seen about 10 versions of this so far.
A feel-good story if ever there were one. And it looks like she has serious gender identity issues as well.

Typical behavior of the mañana culture. She would rather be on TV than take care of paying for her renewal to stay here, because she didn’t think the rules apply to her. Citizens of border states are accustomed to that mind set.
I was hoping ICE would do a roundup of State of the Union guests of the democrats.
Becoming complacent is one think but to call a pres conference so you can publicly spit in the eye of our elected President is another.
He shoots, he scores!
This story has brought a smile to my face. I am so sick of people here illegally thumbing their noses at us.
Some stories just make you smile. :)
She is a Class A idiot. She was thrown a life line by Obama’s despicable DREAM program and all she had to do was pay a “renewal fee.” If she didn’t do that, she would be subject to detention and deportation.
How stupid do you have to be to not grab that life line and pay the fee?
She probably thought “they didn’t kick me out for being illegal so they won’t kick me out if I don’t pay the fee.”
This is a perfect example of how corrosive the selective enforcement of laws can be. It hollows out our entire society and government.
This one is getting a bit heated in the comments

More like REFUSED to pay the renewal fee, which if I'm not mistaken is around $540 for a 10-year (yes 10 year) period. And yes, reminders are sent out to all green card holders.
So this once legal resident brazenly refused to pay even the nominal fee to extend her status. Meanwhile, we are supplying these people welfare, food stamps, subsidized education and all the other things that regular citizens have to pay for.
lol
I have been waiting MY WHOLE LIFE for this!!
Even when I was a kid.. I would see these people go on Live TV and announce to the world that they are committing a crime.. and would wonder... why are the police not arresting them as we speak?
"I don' need to pay no steenkin' fees!"
