Conway is kneeling on the couch. Other pictures of the same moment show she has her shoes on.
This has, of course, inflamed the (mostly liberal end of the) Internet.
THE HORROR.
SHE IS DISRESPECTING THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT.
HOW COULD SHE.
And so on and so forth.
This tempest in a teapot is, in a word, dumb. In two words: incredibly dumb.

First of all, every party not in the White House likes to express shock and outrage at the way the other side is treating this hallowed job and office. Republicans were incensed when Bill Clinton and Barack Obama treated the Oval Office with slightly less formality than did Ronald Reagan, who, famously, always wore a suit coat in the Oval Office.
Obama puts his feet on the desk! Obama throws a football!
This is all par for the Internet outrage/partisan police.
It was dumb when Republicans leveled the charge of Obama and Clinton disrespecting the White House. It is equally dumb now.

I literally cannot stand you people. Do you understand how old and foolish you sound?
she was trying to set up a photo, I doubt POTUS will mind or care.
It’s not the truth, and I didn’t give a rats ass about Obama doing it.
I’ll be honest, the way she’s sitting doesn’t look good, but it’s not worth all the controversy swirling around the picture.
At least this president wasn’t in the Oval Office washroom getting a snorter from an intern.
Or upstairs smoking crack with his tyranny wife and homosexual boyfriend.
If you are young and slim and in shape it can be done. Vets are dying from lack of care in those horrible health care centers and the LIBS scream about a woman sitting on a couch. What the h311? (I have been saying that a lot lately, but EVERYTHING the LIBs say and do is incredibly insane.)
My knees haven’t bent like that since I was in my mid-20s and I was in good shape. Inherited arthritis.
Do you even understand how foolish that sounds? She’s a dumbass for sitting on the couch comfortably? Why would anyone talk to her about it? You are playing in to the left wing’s hands because they know your weaknesses. And our weaknesses are we have people with you our attitudes on our side.

She is comfortable. Looks like someone asked her to move and she complied. She had probably been in heels and standing ALL day. I see no tackiness.
And in the process gave the meeting more attention.
The only controversy here is that half the country is a bunch of assholes.
Be careful not to count yourself among them, mmmkay.
It is not dumb.
Not for anyone who appreciates where they are when in the historic Oval Office, where history is made. Period.
Dumbing down everything and courting the lowest common denominators has got us where we are. Now, many conservatives even excuse the inexcusable. (Sigh.)
Neither is crawling around on the Oval Office furniture with your shoes on.
At least she wasn’t giving the camera the middle finger, ala Barry Soetero.

There are photos of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter with their feet on the Oval Office desk - that I know of. There are probably others too.
