“AFGE President says cuts could leave some agencies with not enough people to do the work”

Interpretation: 20% of the people do 80% of the work. We need to keep the other lazy SOBs employed so they aren’t out stopping traffic in a protest for higher wages.

AFGE President says cuts could leave some agencies with not enough people to do the work

Then it's a win-win.

All public sector labor unions should be outlawed, and private sector ones severely curtailed through the vigorous enforcement of anti-trust, racketeering, tax, and right-to-work laws.

Its my understanding that the fed gov was allowed to unionize by a JFK exec order.

Is this true? If so, . . .

The Union is only worried about:
1. Loss of Union dues.
2. Loss of Union power.
3. Loss of control of their employer.
and finally.............
4. Their government workers just might have to actually produce. What a novel idea. Worse yet, a lot of “dead wood” will be discovered and consequent reduction in government workforce and improved production...which is bad because unions exist to ensure that workers obey THEM...not their employer.

Not to worry, Linda Graham says it’s DOA. The special interests will pull congressman’s strings to keep status quo.

“The federal government today has about the same number of civilian workers as it did 50 years ago

I doubt that is true, but for sake of argument I'll accept it. I would hope that the technology advances over the past few decades made legions of clerical employees and switchboard operators obsolete.

Welcome to the new world. Most of us in the private sector have lived with a lot less and a lot more insecurity while working much harder to justify our places in the work force.

You, government drones with secure everything who bleed the budget without a care, are going to learn you are as dispensable as every one else.

BTW, about those cushy pensions that are impossible to fund without bleeding those through more taxation who don’t have pensions, that’s next on the chopping block.

>>>While we support increases in DoD funding that enhance readiness, there is no reason to eviscerate the non-defense agencies to achieve that goal<<<

Well, that is where you would be wrong Snowflake.

Cut, cut and cut some more. If the Government can give you a Snow Day off and still operate without the World coming to an end, you might not be as important was you think you are.

There should not be any such union. If you work/service in the government you absolutely need no special representation. If you feel otherwise, get out or be thrown out.

From the article: “Further cuts could leave some agencies with not enough employees to do the work that’s required,”

It’s not the union’s job to determine what work is required, that’s strictly a management function, to include who does what.

There is a certain percentage of federal employees that literally do nothing. There needs to be a process where they can be identified and eliminated. The problem here is the “good ole boy” system will weed out the true performers and leave the slackers.

The overhaul should start from the top down.

To hell with the union as they primarily support the dem party.

“AFGE President says cuts could leave some agencies with not enough people to do the work”

Oh what a shame! Just think how wonderful that would be. I just wonder how deep President Trump will have to cut the Federal Government to make a dent in the overall unemployment rate?

Think of it as a sequester, federal welfare queens.
Only “nonessential employees” will be furloughed.
Unfortunately for most of you, that’s most of you.

Even FDR disapproved of the idea of Public Employee Unions.

They shouldn’t exist, so I’m not too concerned about Union leadership being “distressed”.

I would bet large sums of money we could cut 50 % of the government workforce in many, as in almost all, federal agencies and nobody would notice...
