Bill Owens, the father of the Navy SEAL killed in a late-January raid in Yemen, leveled biting criticism at the White House and called for an investigation into his son's death in a news story published Sunday...

If a man joins the SEALS... he is going into territory that leaves him vulnerable. It’s all secret and this father is trying to open a can of worms... He’s lost a son.. and his anger has to be pointed at someone.. someone has to be the blame... and if he’s a democrat, then Trump is to blame. If he was on the right thinking track, obama is to blame.
But being a SEAL, means you are going to go into battles that are highly secret and nothing is guaranteed... the father should know that. It can’t be investigated without getting into territory that is secret. I don’t think they can tell any family member (or anyone) where they are at any given time.. or what they are doing.. or what their next ‘assignment’ is.
Would Mr. Owens have responded this way had some other SEAL had died?
I wouldn’t give this dad a lot of credibility. In the original interview/article it is clear that there are family issues. He lived apart from all of his children, as the first and second wives took the children out of state, probably to avoid the influence. He commented that the “brothers” stayed close with summer and holiday visits. He further said, “he hoped he could make up for lost time, but can’t now”. Most telling in the interview was he wouldn’t talk about his sons wife and three children because some things need to remain private, then said his interview was risking relations with family and friends.
So, dad was a remote father, with an attitude. He has a bad relationship with the wife and grandchildren, might as well blame Trump than himself for failure of HIS MISSION.
mclame sees the American Revolution as a failure. What a complete traitorous moron. johnnie, turn in your “I’m a Vet” card. It no longer works. You are an idiot.
Simply stated, PROFOUNDLY true. Bears repeating....
[I would not describe any operation that results in the loss of American life as a success.]
“I seriously doubt that anything I see or hear today will exceed the above quote in abject stupidity.”

“McCain wasnt a war hero, he was a lousy pilot.......”
Ace McCain was the best North Vietnamese fighter pilot in our armed services.
Trump is exercising remarkable restraint vis a vis McCain IMHO! I wouldn’t be so condescending.
That quote is old.
“Remember reading it last week.”
I just LOVE this type of humor. (yet true)
In today’s world of instant news, a week is an eternity.
BRAVO. Is there a little Brit in your wit?
It’s no “ legend”
There is a reason John McCain was in a big hurry to get off that carrier after the accident and in fact was the only officer to do so, hitching a ride with a NYT reporter back to Saigon for “ some much needed R&R” ( his own words) while the ship was still burning
What he may have done to cause his apparent guilt is known to McCain, any of the ground and aircrew around his plane ( most of them killed) and probably some very senior officers on a highly politically sensitive accident investigation board
See above
The fact is the missile did not hit McCains plane, it hit that of the plane next to him - pilot was CDR Fred White
Why McCain claimed in his book that the missile hit his plane and in fact he never mentions his deceased squadron mate CDR Fred White ( who died beside him on the deck due to exploding ordnance from McCains plane, after managing to escape his plane) )! is open to conjecture
But there is a good report that gives very plausible clue- will post link if I can find it
!...but only part of it.
D-Day etc. was not a success, according to the McVain idiot.
Guess we better give Europe back to the Nazis!
(Oh wait, they’re busy giving it to the Islamo-Nazis instead)
The entire country of Yemen isn’t worth one American life.
I am no fan of John McCain, never have been, and his comment is an obvious attempt to weigh in when he should be silent.
The father of the SEAL I am inclined to extend some grace and forgiveness to.
The man is grieving the loss of his son in a military operation that, while accomplishing some of its objectives, was certainly not executed very well. Greif causes people to say things and act in ways they wouldn’t under different circumstances. He lost his son suddenly, unexpectedly and in a very violent manner, let him grieve.
“..A severe case of the Sheehans...”....I was wondering if they were related.
Published reports make it very clear that ISIS was warned about the pending American attack.
Given the timing that makes it AN OBAMA SECURITY LEAK.
I don’t understand what you mean. Explain?
John McCain: Enemy islamist facilitator.
This creep of a father and he should get along fine.
“Published reports make it very clear that ISIS was warned about the pending American attack.
Given the timing that makes it AN OBAMA SECURITY LEAK.”
If this is true, and you clearly believe that it is, shouldn’t the father be given the opportunity to find out exactly what circumstances and facts lead to the death of his son?
