And Bush also said that we need freedom to worship, etc. and indicated opposition to Trump’s exec order / travel ban from certain countries. What freedom of religion has to do with a travel ban escapes me.

Or is Bush going liberal on us in his old age?

“Going liberal”? Are you kidding? The Bush globalist family has always been liberal. Daddy learned to fake it a bit with his enjoyment of pork rinds. W took it further with his strut and cowboy boots. W’s daughters don’t even bother pretending anymore—as really, the Bush women never did—they are part of the liberal, globalist, kleptocrat class and always have been.

George W Bush was never a conservative to begin with. In retrospect, I'd have to say he's a left leaning centrist, at best.

One thing is certain; he's never been one of us. Despite his obvious love for the country, he seems to be clueless as to the bedrock principles which make America the unique place that it is.

In my view, this is why he's so easily swayed by liberal ideas and idealism.
