The president was heading to his new flagship property in D.C., the Trump Hotel, for a private dinner at the BLT Steakhouse inside. Once the president arrived at the location, the reporter who was on assignment to cover him, Jordan Fabian of The Hill, was not let into the building and had to wait in the van outside for the remainder of the dinner, without a guest list or details of what was happening inside.
Inside the restaurant, I was seated at a table that had booked hours earlier, directly next to where Trump would be dining. I made the booking based on a tip from a trusted source. I was ready to tell the story no one else would get to see and was personally fascinated to observe how a restaurant prepares for a president and how Trump interacts when he believes no press are present...
6:45 PM: Our bacon tower appetizer arrives. Highly recommended.

Yes; it’s the newest thing!
This is my fave chimichurri recipe, from my fave Churrascos (latin grilled steak) restaurant....

Funny how that works! Now I will have a new entertainment when I am out with friends and they are boring the Hell out of me! I will observe the other diners! This is awesome!
Ah! Bacon! Good any way, any where, and time!
I’ll save both yours and piasa’s. I’m not a big beef eater, but my husband would like them very much.
Hunts here as well! The Heinz boycott started in 2004!
Him and me both. I will put it on when I eat at a place where I dont know. I order it well done and then out comes the bottle.
If I eat at a place I know, I will order it rare, and wont put it on.
Yep. I love ketchup. There’s a hot dog place in town here that will not serve ketchup because they believe only mustard should go on a dog.
Needless to say, I don’t eat there!
The various reviewers have had fun with the clothesline thing; but generally the reviews of the restaurant have been very good.
I just have to say, that a man of the Presidents’ stature and breeding, putting the rather pedestrian condiment of ketchup on his steak. Well, it makes me proud to be an American!
Weren’t there several stories about Obama going someplace and not leaving a tip?
I used to be that mustard snob! For years! Now I rather enjoy ketchup on a dog!
Hey! It drains the excess grease! Win! Win!
I’m still the mustard snob - mustard, sweet pickle relish, and chopped onion. Ketchup is for French fries and fish sticks ;-)
Just a regular guy, no pretensions. I love that. And he eats ketchup on his steak.
Consider Trump’s life. He grew up watching everybody eat their steaks in a puddle of blood. Back then, de-worming wasn’t as efficient as it is now. One family member coming down with ‘parasites’ and he would say nooooope, not me.
I hate picky eaters if I’m the cook, but I understand them. It means they’re non-negotiable on everything, and that’s what I want in my President.

Unless it was planned and approved of by Trump. His is thinking six moves ahead of everybody else.
LOL! You do realize that we have both admitted to eating the rather low class hot dog? I love a good hot dog! I really do! Hot dogs and pizza, don’t have to be “good”, just have to be!
