Former NAACP branch president Rachel Dolezal, who lied about being black but still identifies as black, is now jobless, living on food stamps and expects to lose her home next month.
"There's no protected class for me," the former NAACP branch president told The Guardian. "I'm this generic, ambiguous scapegoat for white people to call me a race traitor and take out their hostility on. And I'm a target for anger and pain about white people from the black community. It's like I am the worst of all these worlds."
Dolezal has applied for over 100 jobs, but has received no offers, even from a supermarket. She has, however, been offered work in porn and reality TV. While a friend helped pay her rent for February, Dolezal expects she'll lose her home next month.

More than most, just about all of them if they are authentic descendants of slaves. I am a good amateur genealogist who has been hired from time to time, so I guess semi-pro would be more appropriate.
Slavery arrived in America in the infant days of the Virginia Colony. The first ship offering such "human resources" was from Portugal and it was turned away because the residents were appalled by the conditions on the ship and felt they would be importing disease. Less than two years later, a Dutch ship arrived with its human cargo in much better shape and slavery was born.
Actual rape of slaves by owners was extremely rare because of the social values. However "enticements" of owners by slave women was common. They had every incentive to so entice them because it meant advancements from field assignments to skilled trades for them and their off-spring such as house maids or carpenters.
By the mid 1700s, many writers noted an uncanny resemblance between household servants in a plantation and male members of the owner's families. Getting a white man in bed and getting bred was a goal in upward mobility. This is well known even among modern gang bangers who are obsessed with bedding white women.
Descendants of slaves dating back to the colonial era are actually more authentically American (by blood) than your average white, most of whom arrived after the first great wave of immigration in the late 1830s. Every black person whom I know with slave descendants (and I know quite a few) and has done the DNA test thing is surprised to find out how much white blood they have.
That includes even famous blacks such as Booker T. Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
BO's father (unless it was really Frank Marshall Davis), however, would be unlikely to find any.

The one thing that your excellent post leaves out is that the first sales of slaves did NOT take place in Virginia, but in Massachusetts (actually Boston). I know this as my Yankee paternal family ancestor (who arrived in 1630) was a buyer.
I don’t have enough info to say whether the cargo was from that Dutch ship, but I suspect as much.
It is ironic that my maternal ancestry is Southern small farmers who never owned slaves, but my Yankee ancestors did.
In the current economy, some people apply for 200 or 300 jobs before they get one. If she’s only applied for 100, then she’s still got a ways to go.
