Exclusive: John Lofton takes Focus on the Family to task for thanking president
So, President Bush throws $2.2 billion down the Planned Parenthood rathole and Im supposed to thank him for not wasting the federal tax dollars of pro-life taxpayers?
Well, yes, thats what the folks at Focus On The Family want me and others to do.
The October 2008 issue of Citizen magazine has a full-page article with the headline: Thanks, Mr. President. A smaller headline reads: Pro-life taxpayers can thank President Bush for keeping their dollars from being misspent.
But, theres a slight problem here that keeps me from thanking Mr. Bush: during his term in office he approved giving Planned Parenthood at least $2.2 billion in federal tax dollars! Is this money that has been misspent? Hmmmm, Id say yes.
So, where do I get the $2.2 billion? From Jim Sedlak of the American Life League, an expert on Planned Parenthood and its federal funding. In an interview, Jim tells me the Bush administration has indeed extensively funded Planned Parenthood, the total amount of federal funding being at least $2.2 billion.
In Bushs first year, he approved $202 million for PP; in the last year of reporting (2006), Bush gave PP $337 million a single year funding increase of 67 percent.
Sedlak notes that in 2006, PP showed a $114 million profit so did not need federal funding. And yes, certainly, Jim says, every federal tax dollar given PP frees up one of its other dollars to pay for abortions.
And there are dollars that go into Planned Parenthood, especially state dollars, that pay for abortions. There are Medicaid programs, for example, that actually pay for abortions in some of the states. So some of this [federal] money goes directly to abortions.

In light of Barbara Pierce Bush's support of Planned Parenthood this week, let's review the now deceased John Lofton's article, from back in 2008, when he stumbled over the fact that the supposed "pro-life' "born again Christian" George W Bush's administration was in fact, funding PP.
Just like his grandfather, Prescott Bush, btw. Friend of Margaret Sanger's. Treasurer of Planned Parenthood.
Not cool.
Not Christian.
Not honest.

Absolutely. I am ashamed to say.
Sometimes I itch for revenge. It’s frustrating to live with the way these despicable creatures have exploited and cheated America. Trump really knew the Bush’s, didn’t he, back when we were still being fooled?
Fake conservative.
I voted for him reluctantly.
I knew he was not what he claimed to be.
Let’s keep an eye on this evil spawn. She’ll make a mistake. None of the Bush cows have an IQ over 100.
Thankfully enough people woke up to avoid having Yeb! as our nominee this time around.
W, do you believe in the Commandments?
Then why don’t you obey this one and not kill babies?
“Thou shalt not kill.”
Note the date—just before the election in 2008 when we weren’t paying attn.
George Pedro Bush is still lurking in Texas.
Hopefully Texans will not elect him to anything else.
The Bushes really fooled me too....but he gave such a proper salute to the Air Force One crew...
Skull and Bones indeed...
I bet that if you look at how this occurred, the PP spending was in an omnibus budget bill that President Bush could either sign or veto and shut down the government.
This is being pushed as if President Bush personally decided to “give” PP 2.2 Billion dollars.
From the article:
Q: Did you know that over eight years Bush has signed into law legislation giving Planned Parenthood at least $2.2 billion, according to James W. Sedlak, a Planned Parenthood expert who works for American Life League?
See the sleight of hand here “Signed into law” becomes “Bush throws $2.2 Billion down the Planned Parenthood rathole”
President Bush did not have a line item veto. He could not decide to simply veto PP dollars.
The story’s basic premise is misleading.
Who knew “compassionate conservative” meant pro-baby killing?
I’d agree with you except for what Karen Handel published about Karl Rove at Susan G Komen and for the Bush family legacy with the founding of Planned Parenthood.
IOW, if George W Bush was such a strong Christian, he would have made a big deal out of this.
As has President Trump.
Many a lying GOPe has hidden behind the veil of political logistics.
Now that we are free of that sort of Uniparty illusion, let’s not give George W any slack. Any normal Christian would make a VERY BIG DEAL out of funding Planned Parenthood, however it was accomplished.
And let’s not forget, recent comments about how dead-baby-parts-for-sale PP fundraising began in the 1990’s.
Bush knew. And I pray that the Lord reveals every detail for public scrutiny so Americans can know the absolute truth about this and every other lying GOPe situation.
The information should have been easily found Even pointed to when Jeb was allowing a “non perfect” woman to die. Ask yourself why it was never discovered by the people doing the vetting ! Prescott Bush was from the same cloth of Margaret S. Follower of the master race promoter himself
