What exactly is the idea that Steve Bannon is an anti-Semite based on?

Because David Horowitz, a jewish man, wrote an article at Breitbart that was misconstrued as anti-semitic. As I recall it was something about self-hating jews because they don't support Israel or something along those lines. Anyway since Bannon was also as Brietbart, he is just as anti-semitic as a jewish guy who wrote an article defending Israel. It's so obvious really.

But they don't need logic or evidence, just an allegation that they can use forever to smear him. They will never have to defend the the allegation, Bannon will spend the rest of his life defending the charge.

The most important thing is find any excuse, however flimsy, to fire up jewish democrats to hate Trump and to isolate Trump from his most effective supporters.

Yes, I remember that, but I wondered if that's all they have, and apparently it is. Now, since they can't find any evidence of Trump saying or doing anything anti-Semitic, they are calling him anti-Semitic because of what he DOESN'T say, or didn't say fast enough. They are despicable.
