Kim Jong-nam 'killed by VX nerve agent found on his face'

Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korea's leader, was killed by a highly toxic nerve agent, says Malaysia.

Mr Kim died last week after two women wiped a substance over his face in a check-in hall at Kuala Lumpur airport.

Malaysian toxicology reports have identified the chemical as "VX nerve agent", classified as a weapon of mass destruction by the United Nations.

It was 5 bags of liquid with suspended Sarin, the bags were pierced with umbrella points after being deposited on the floor of the subway cars.

Cops seize chemicals from condo in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation into the murder of Kim Jong-nam led police to a condominium located at Jalan Klang Lama where various chemicals were seized.

Sources said that police personnel were led to the condominium on Wednesday by a Malaysian man, in his 30s, where a forensics team checked for traces of chemicals.

Besides various chemicals, it is believed that several gloves and shoes were also seized from the unit.

While his role in Jong-nam’s murder is still unclear, it is learnt that the man might have connections to the suspects detained.

It is believed that the trail led to the Malaysian man, after one of the suspects detained, revealed his name.

“Police are not ruling out the possibility that the Malaysian man might have expertise in chemistry,” a source said.

It is learnt that the Malaysian man was earlier picked up by police at another condominium nearby before he led them to the condominium where the seizure occurred.

A fire engine, two Fire and Rescue Department vehicles and a police forensics car were seen at the condominium where the man was picked up yesterday during checks by The Star.

At about 1.10pm yesterday, some 10 firemen filed out of the building carrying hazmat suits and oxygen tanks.

Several police forensics officers were seen carrying equipment into the residential block, believed to be heading to one of the units after being given the go-ahead by firemen.

It is learnt that the forensics officers were retrieving fingerprints from the unit, which was believed to have been abandoned in a hurry with many household items left behind.

I doubt it was VX. Half the people in that terminal would have been flopping around on the floor like a fish out of water, and the “suspects” would be just as dead as bowl cuts brother.

Maybe it’s a different kind. Maybe in a form that can be smeared on someone’s skin, even just barely, by someone wearing rubber or latex gloves. Imagine coating bullets with something like that!! A hit anywhere would mean death. Obviously the good guys (us) wouldn’t use something like that on the battlefield but who knows what the bad guys might do.

No one else killed because the V in VX stands for Venomous.

It’s super-powerful “snake” poison. Takes 10mg on your skin or 30mg inhaled to be lethal, assuming no atropine injection antidote or life-support breathing provided by a nearby hospital.

A few countries weaponized VX in aerosol form, but as a liquid on a cloth or two (in binary form) it is harmless until mixed and then harmful only to those who receive the liquid via touch or aerosol.

At first, local police said that one of them wore glove(s.)
Later they said that women used their bare hands when they attacked.

I guess they have to sort it out for us.
