I kid. This shouldn’t be shocking — if you’re a pragmatist, not a polemicist. Point one: Trump has been hinting at amnestizing DREAMers for months. Usually that takes the form of gooey pronouncements about having a big heart and how “great people that are here that have done a good job … should be far less worried” about deportation than criminals. Lately, though, the White House has showed its hand more clearly by declining to suspend Obama’s DACA program for DREAMers as part of its executive overhaul of immigration policy. All Rush is doing here is getting in line with a Republican president he already spends much of his time defending.
Point two: An immigration deal with Democrats that would trade serious enforcement upgrades for amnesty for DREAMers does make a lot of sense. If Trump needs to horse-trade with Democrats to get 60 votes in the Senate for more Border Patrol, more sophisticated means of tracking immigrants internally, and so forth, legalization for America’s most sympathetic class of illegals is an obvious possible concession, especially since Obama’s already granted them

I’m kinda with you on that. Those kids would be like cotton candy south of the border. Perhaps we would pass a law that they never be allowed to vote, so that it takes that edge away from the Democrats.
Enforce the law as written! That seems to be the theme. The law and the penalties are plain to see, so let’s kick them out. But, in doing so, do we ignore the moral aspects of uprooting families that have lived here in peace. I say no! Let’s enforce the law with due diligence for the truly wicked, yet temper it for those that are not.
And yes, punishing the good along with the bad, so we can say the law is enforced for all is tyranny, of a sort.

Yes, that’s what it is. It’s a bitter, bitter pill from my perspective, but if the list can really be whittled down to exactly those who were brought her through no fault of their own as children, and no one else, to me it’s worth it if it means that we can get everything else mentioned. I don’t fault those who differ because I myself do not like it one bit. But I will accept it.
I agree it will be impossible to deport every single illegal immigrant. I just don’t want anybody given a pass because they claim to be “dreamers,” “victims,” or “veterans” or some other category that gets a pass from our laws. Must have been about two decades ago that I read of a member of a Mexican drug cartel (not sure if he was also an illegal) who joined the military with the plan to get the training and then citizenship.

first you want to separate dreamers from all of the other illegals, and inexplicably reward them. now you’re trying to separate illegals currently in the country from illegals that aren’t in the country yet (huh?), which is, um, odd, to say the least.
at the end of the day, it’s ALL illegal immigration. I reject your attempts to draw lines through it, and tolerate some segments of the illegal immigrant community.
