Texas is a Southern state. Until about 10 years ago, except in East Texas, the tea you got at restaurants was unsweet. You put sugar or the chemical of your choice into the tea. Sweet tea caught on here due to chain restaurants like Cracker Barrel. However, home brewed tea was often sweet.

I like sweet tea. Like it unsweetened too. Sometimes in between.

As are instant grits. They had absolutely right on “My Cousin Vinny” when Mr. Tipton stated under oath that “No self-respectin’ Southerner uses instant grits.”
