Far more than that.

Sending our cash out of the United States rather than have it spent in the local economies loses the ‘multiplier effect’ when it stays here. $25 billion a year is being sent south.

They pay no social security tax, no health insurance (get it free from Medicaid - citizenship not required), no workers comp. Most of the cash goes back home.

The kids are in schools costing us big bucks.

If the estimates are $100 million a year (I’ve seen $130 million ), it’s likely twice that in true cost.

Most of the cost is in Education - which is mostly for their US born children.
Unless the 14th Amendment is properly re-interpreted with Illegals (and their children) “not being subject to the jurisdiction thereof” there is no way to get rid of the largest expense.

Rufugees also have an enormous cost. They are granted immediate welfare and cash benefits.

We should not give handouts to non citizens until the needs of American citizens have been met. Vetrans for example.

Considering the upcoming EO by leftist judges, my recommendation would be (in the case of another loss) to settle the refugees in one of the sanctuary cities, preferably in California (as they’re well experienced at illegal immigration issues).

Ten years ago or so some of the leftards I knew would have the same argument whenever we got into a discussion of illegal aliens. ‘Do you want to pay $10 for a head of lettuce’. This was meant to put any debate stop.

My response was ‘When you figure in all of the welfare they get, we probably already do’.

You do realize the cost of labor per head of lettuce is 3 cents? Doubling wages would only jack the retail price from $3.00/head to $3.03/head.

And it shows in our property taxes.

And your point is?

I was talking about the costs to taxpayers to support the cheap labor that benefits ag-business.

I’m a big one for automation in the fields. Can’t wait for the JuanDos robot.

The $10.00 argument is a stupid scare tactic of the left. Don’t fall for it.

I read your post. Automation is great but in the mean time employing Americans to pick crops wouldn’t make any appreciable difference in the retail price at grocery store. THe $10.00 lettuce is a scare tactic of the globalist.
